I saw this last time I was in Harbor freight and immediately thought it would be good for ferrules.

If the ferrule is made of wax, sure.
I had one.
You probably put the blade on backwards Joey. You had one of these and it wouldn't cut 1/2 Juma and the like? Probably need a carbide blade for Ivorine 4.
You can mount a 3" blade on it without the guard, but a 2" blade with cut through 1/2 for sure.
I think that MicroMark sells blades for these toys.

And all this time I thought a lathe was the perfect ferrule parting machine.![]()
Start treating tools that can take a good hunk of your finger off as toys and you'll be sorrrrry!!
Like I just told someone else, I could just make a jig with a stop for my bandsaw. I need to stop being lazy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2hPSJ5gswk&feature=relatedActually, a 'chucker' with automatic bar-feed and turret tail-stock
would probably cover the task nicely. Assuming you're going for production.
Bar-stock (LBM, etc.) feeds into the headstock, the turret center-drills, drills
to size, taps, bottom taps and faces. The cross-slide parts-off the finished ferrule.
All done without having to remove the mtrl from the chuck. Everything is concentric.
Yeah, those were the good `ol days.

The auto bar feed is really high tech. It is called my two fingers automatically pulling it up against the stop.Sorry Joey,
I'm stuck with a dial-up connection.
It would take a week to download a video.
Besides that, I don't want a 'flash' player.
Trust me, I've seen them in operation.
I've worked in & around machine shops probably 1/4 of my life.
KJ
Beau,
Where's the auto bar-feed???
Rockwell is a good machine.
