Mis-identified Zylr on ebay less then 2 hrs

I don't think he's implying it's bogus...simply that the seller may not know what he actually has.

The seller is stating that he was told, upon receipt of the cue, that it was an Al Romero s/p. However, the butt does clearly have the Zylr 'Z' on it. The shaft doesn't appear to match, it would seem, the butt, as there is no ring collar on the butt section, but a ring collar on the shaft.

The butt may or may not be worth the price alone if you can get another shaft from Kerry.

cue

i don't think he is saying it's bougus, just vanalized from the signature. there might be a reason the guy isn't calling it a zyler also.

I don't know the guy. I just saw the auction. I know he is local, southern california. I was going to look at the cue in person; however, the new years holiday messed that up. I am on cue purchasing restriction :D .

I don't think it is bogus, he is misinformed. I think Kerry sometimes put a different collar on the shaft. Look at page 887 in the 3rd blue book the second cue down. The PJ has a different collar. I beleive the lighter collar is buckhorn and the darker is linen plastic.

This is not Zylr cue!!!!

The seller responded to my question and stated that he had Little Al put on the buttcap from his first cue (I guess Zylr) on the sneaky made by Little Al.

I also know now why I got outbidded.

Zylr??

I feel responsible if it is a little al not zylr. If the winner is an AZ'r, like I said the cue is local and I could do any research you want. little al is a friend of mine, I don't know Kerry, however, I heard he is very approachable. Again, let me know if there is anything I could do if you win the auction.

P.S. little al cues are $225 with a 3 month waiting list. I can post the contact info. if needed.

I am sorry!!!

As you can see I am new to posting here on AZ. I mistakenly thought this was an informational forum for sale cues, any cue from any web-site. Does this rule also apply when you list a cue for a friend? The only interest there is you want your friend to get the best $$ for his cue. The guy on this auction is having a kid, come on. It is already bad enough he beleives he needs to part with the cue, why not get the most $$ he can. Besides if it is a little al I may have saved you $25 on a new one.

like i said , there is prrobably a reason he is not calling it a zyler. he also didn't go out of he way to say it wasn't a zyler. you gotta be csi anymore.hey jazz, i looked at your post link and i was the second or third one to agree and still do. if it isn't yours and ya got no intresst, well ya know. i also think the original poster thought somthing was funny because of it. maybe he was just calling attention to it or asking for help but good catch jazz. play this scenario out. someone here buys the cue at a good price, now sells it here as a zyler and all $it breaks out down the road. once again, good catch.

jdsons, no worry and happy new year.

The link I provided is a thread I started to get input of other AZ'ers. It is NOT any forum rule. I gave you the link so you can read both pros and cons regarding posting others eBay listing and make up your mind.

Your thread is clear example where you meant no harm and may have driven the price up for a cue that really has not be misrepresented.

yeah

hey you did what you thought was right. it is a free country. if you would have posted bogus zyler on e bay you probably would have been bashed because the guy never said it was a zyler. can't win. don't let this discourage ya from posting. live and learn, then you decide what you want to post about. there are no set rules, gotta love it. happy football day everyone.

With all that has been said in this thread, does anyone else feel that it was irresponsible of "Lil Al" to use another cuemaker's buttcap w/the logo in tact, if in fact that's what happened? I do. What purpose would this serve other than to mislead the next buyer as to who made the cue & maybe sell it for more than it's worth. I would appreciate help in understanding this.

Happy New Year!

I agree

I hope it is a misunderstanding. I am going to call lit al later. I tried twice already, he is not in his shop. I also email kerry. I will let you know what was said.

P.S. I am thinking of changing my screen name to nosie or bigmouth, your thoughts.

P.P.S. When I first started this thread I disagreed with the "don't list someone else's auction." unwritten rule. I now total agree with it. I will not list any auctions, but my own. Not even for a friend.

Yes, I agree it's a bit strange but maybe Lil Al did whatever the customer wanted???

I was going to "steal" the cue, verify that it's not Zylr, post a thread on it and also have the Z logo removed. If nothing, I'd gotten a decent sneaky pete for travel and such. Here' the seller's response to my question "the buttcap is not from little al... he put it on but its from my first stick... the butt and the shaft is straight.. the cue is in near perfect condition... there are no flaws in it but you can tell its been used a few times... "

I was alerted to this listing from another AZ'er who PM'd me about it.

If Lil Al agreed to put the butt cap on, it was the wrong thing to do. The thing that gets me is that I've never heard of Lil Al using a uni-loc pin; if he did build the cue with the buttcap, then the only purpose in using the pin was to pass it off as a Zyler, and I would think that almost every cuemaker would have better personal and business ethics than to do that.
Could it maybe be a Zyler butt and Romero shaft?
