Hi guys I would like to test the waters on a matter that is a little delicate. As you guys well know I am a college student at Indiana University and I have been trying really hard to qualify for the national ACUI tournament. ACUI (Association of Colligate Union International) has a 9 ball tournament in every region of the country. We are part of region 9 which is very competitive. It includes Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Michigan. All colleges in this area can send players to the regional tournament and the top 4 people qualify for the national tournament in the summer. The tournament is usually very hard because there are very good players in this region especially from Purdue and Michigan University. Well for the first time in actually qualified for the nationals. I have been training really hard and I had a spark of genius and qualified. The nationals are going to be in the summer but we don’t know yet where. Here where the begging part begins. Our school (IU) due to whatever budget cuts decided to take away all our funding (4k a year) so the club cannot support my trip to this tournament to represent my school. Last year I tagged along my best friend Brian Myung to the national tournament because he qualified as well in our region and the total cost for him was around 600$ (hotel for 3 days, registration, fee 120$ and so forth). What I am getting at is to see if I can get any sponsors/backers. I work 2 jobs and go to school; I volunteer quite a bit in the community, manage a successful billiards club at IU and teach pool as much as possible. I am not a free loader and I am working really hard saving money for this trip but between books, rent, gas and other stuff I don’t think it will be enough. I started a cue repair business before Christmas but lately it has been very slow because I already changed pretty much all tips in town and they are not popping off (like the gum commercial , chew another piece!!!!!). I also have my friends and family supporting me and the local bars where I play apa and bca. Anything helps. GOOOOOOO HOOSIERS!!!!
I want to give back for all the people that want to support me so I am offering my lathe services for free. I can do tips, ferules, cleanings, stack leather wrap and so on. I can’t taper, can’t build anything, I can make joint protectors etc. All I ask is for the supplies help me as much/little as you want and I will fix your cue for the cost of the materials, labor will be free.

I don't mean any offence by this, just something to think about. There are a great number of young people that cannot afford to continue their education due to lack of money. I would rather participate in funding someone that cannot get in school due to the economy than someone in school so they can play pool.

Love of the game and tournaments will be there long after you finish school and can afford to go out of pocket to participate.

You built yourself up to all green circles and have now beaten yourself down to all red ones. Have you considered you may be doing this in life right now?

My .02 Cents, something to think about.

My friend has been a pro for 30 years and he can't get someone to give him expense money to go to the US Open every year.

I majored in business and I seem to remember them teaching us how to make money. You only need a few hundred for your trip and I guess you have a good game. Use your game to fund your trip. If your good enough to teach billiards winning a few hundred shouldn't be hard. Good luck.
 
I actually hate gambling. I don't like to hustle people that are worst then me and I always like to play with players way better then me, this way I feel my game will improve, some time beginners give me 5$ 10$ because I teach them something but I never ask for it. The Bloomington pool community is very small and we all know each other. I just don't like loosing cash so I just don't gamble.
 
I am making a little on the side putting tips on for people and the occasional ferrule but like I said small community and I already fixed most of the players in town with ultra skins. People here are pretty poor so they don't really like to sped money if they can so it themselves. So shaft cleanings, leather wraps and so on are pretty much out..

Then why are you making threads asking for deals on cue supplies etc, and now asking for help to send you to a pool tournament?

No one really knows who you are beyond what you claim to be.

And then, you send me crappy little PMs. Why, because I dared to tell you the truth and call you out on it publicly.

That is how most Hustlers and Scam artists act when they get called out on their own BS.
 
No I don't scam and I don't cheat. Tom Hay and Bassel can confirm that for me. I have purchased hundreds of dollars worth of equipment from Bassel. I ordered tons of tips from Tom and no issues what so every.

So yea I asked for free advice, so what I did not demand it. I did not say " hey to tell me now or else". I always asked questions and always got some answers. Never demanded it.


The only free things I ever got from az are a couple of tips from Tom in the beginning, a pressure die from Tom and 6 tips from a guy to do some of my microscope reviews. That is it.

Tom because of his generosity has won a customer for life. I only install ultra skin tips and promoted the fuq out of them here in town. Ask Tom how many orders go to Bloomington and he will tell you.

Pay it forward, yea I do it all the time but I don't brag about it, most of the tips (about half) that I got from that one guy were installed for free on poor people's cues at the bar where I play in a small 5$ bca league. Yea so I offers to sell that guy a spool of nylon for 20$ and like I said after all set and done I would have profited 3$ and every one started to jump my ass cuz I not paying it forward. I had people that try to sell me diamond road for 40$, politely decline and move on, but don't start shit.

I had no clue that any one was here asking for free money and backers like in Robleys case.

I did not ask for free money. I actually offered if you read the whole thing free lathe labour as well as telling people that I will organize a couple of tournaments to raise some funds. Do I silent auction, and so on. It's not the first time I raise money for a cause.

You seem to only look at the small picture and not see the situation as a whole. You probable were never helped in life and got everything on your own which is to appreciate never the less, but that does not mean that others are like you. People help me all the time and in return I become loyal. Could I get a Hightower lathe yea but I give my business to Bassel just because same with Tom.

I am tired of you judging me when I don't start any shit with you. I don't know why you feel compelled to put your 2 cents in every time I ask for advice, ask not demand according to you.

This will be my last civil attempt at reasoning with you although I have been instructed to just ignore you because I quote "az"s full of idiots". I am not going to disclose who it was but any way.

I will get my funding and I am going to represent my sponsors and promote them and all will be well.

Lets see how many more rocks you have to throw.
