Money

Lucky you!

Usually $9.25-$12 an hour depending which place I go to, and that's if I have to pay.....

Where I play it's about $4 for members and $5 for non-members. I think it's the cheapest table time you can find here in Norway. The other pool hall in town charges about $13 for non-members and $7 for members.

These prices are per person and my place has all Gold Crowns from Cardiff 2001. They were just recovered with new Simonis. The other more expensive place has worn down Søren Sørgårds' and GC Medalist(?) tables.

WOW!!! I'm so lucky. Where are you people talking about?

I don't know what it is about my area (S. Central Pennsylvania US), but I know it's less around here. I didn't know it was that much less. At the pool hall it's $4.00 to $4.50 per hour. At a local pub it is $.50 per game.

We have one local bar called Finley's that has 7 bar tables. As long as your spending money, the pool is free.

Snookers in Detroit area is free during the day with a food or drink purchase. Bars are $.75 to $1 per game.

Chalkies (upscale, gourmet food, no-smoking) = $7 an hour days, $11 an hour (per table) nights and weekends.

Airport Billiards (smoky dive) = $3 per hour per player.

My home poolroom (nicer than both of the above, food & drinks free if I can convince my wife to cook) = PRICELESS.

Williebetmore brought up a good question. Are you folks that are talking about '$8.00 and higher per hour', is that for the table or per person? I was talking $4.00 per hour per person.

Snookers in Cincy (nice place) is $3.50 per hour per person, maximum of $10.50 per hour for 3 or more people.

There's a joint called Sharks and Shooters that is half-price ($1.75 hr.) from 1 pm till 6 pm.

CaptainJR has a point. Tell if the price is valid through the whole day and weekends and if it is for table or for person. And please tell on what kind of equipment that particular price is for. Wouldn't pay $5 for a hour for a lousy six-footer but a brand new 9' GCIV or Diamond for $8/hour is a nice price.

Here in Finland hourly rates are from $6 to $10 per hour per table. At least where I usually go. With these prices the equipment is nice a GC or a Betamatch or an Olympic. Usually on weekends the prices are near $10 and maybe around $6 on weekday afternoons. At my club (Ritz-club in Helsinki), I can practise for free though :) Eight 9-footers with a brand new cloth... for a while, 6 GC's and 2 some unknown Taiwanese brands, but I guess those two are being sold soon...

Oh, our club also offers student discount (roughly 10%) as well as many other pool clubs, but the discount is not valid in the evenings or on weekends.

airport billiards is $4 an hour. its not the cleanest place but it has a few gc's that play great and is on par with the average players poolhall. chalkies is nice but is a little ritzy for my taste. i havent been there in a year or so, but mr. miss cue on the southside is around $3 an hour. take care.

In and around the Sacramento area is usually about $4.50 to $5. I pay $80 a month for membership which allows me to play free up until 7:30 in the evening every day. This place has 5 4 1/2 X 9 pro Diamond tables and a bunch of Olhausen 4 1/2 X 9's. They have a grill and bear on tap as well.

Oh, yeah. Here in Finland pool clubs and gourmet food don't mix

Don't know why, there are several good pool clubs with a nice restaurant in Sweden but none here in Finland... Well, I guess we pool people here are more into drinking beer than eating good food :p

Miah,
Oops! I was quoting the price during league play at Airport - you are correct (I basically only go there for league play). As far as the quality of their equipment goes, you can tell I'm spoiled - nothing compares to walking downstairs and shooting a few balls on an absolutely immaculate, shiny new GCIV - it is a real pleasure. I played a match at Airport yesterday, made a ball in the side, and the pocket fell through the table onto the floor, had to change tables (they didn't have a screw to hold the pocket in) - this rarely happens at home.

willie,
that doesnt surprise me with the pocket. i was shooting one night and a rail skirt fell off of the table( right after the refelting ). other than chalkies its the best we have aroound here. hava good one.

Well in the chicago area its like $3.25-$6.00 an hour per player depending on were you play at.

Around here it's about $6.50 an hour for the regular pool halls. There's one upscale one that charges $8 or so. They have a really nice hall (well maintained tables and equipment) in town here but it doesn't open until 3 in the afternoon. I usually play at a 24/7 hall with 50 tables for $10 per player from 10am to 6pm. Wide variety of tables, couple of bar boxes and mostly 9' in various conditions from brand new cloth to old worn out cloth with tears in it. Two snooker tables and two billiard tables. No bear on tap, though. How do you tap a bear?
