I don't see that Monica ever got out of the first round in the IPT. She went 0-4 in one and 1-3 in the other. Her only victory was against Marco Marquez.

thank you .... she plays quite well ... it is interesting to me after playing a lot of eightball during the last few years to watch the pros play , and see that not all of them are 8-ball players ...mosconiac said:

Jeezy peezy, I wouldn't say Earl's a mess right now. He lost one race in 9-ball to Monica Webb, plain and simple.
First time I ever met Monica was when I met Keith McCready, and she was in the pool room in Baltimore trying to get in action. She didn't know me from Adam or Eve, but she came over and sat with me on the rail. She was very nice. She had no fear and was looking to get in action with a couple of the locals, but nobody would step up to the plate and play her, for fear of getting beat by a girl, I think.
Maybe the guys are afraid to say it, but I will. No male player enjoys getting beat by a female. I am reminded of the time when Jean Balukas drilled Keith and Buddy Hall at the 1986 (I think) BC Open. Keith had won the BC Open the year before, pocketing what was considered the largest first-place prize in the States, $25,000. Second place was $10,000, and Spanish Mike Lebron was runner-up. You can best believe that Keith was looking to maintain his crown this time around when he had to face Jean Balukas.
Jean came out of the gate with both guns cocked, broke the balls "like a man," and barbecued Keith, much to the delight of the crowd who was cheering and pulling her in.
Next up was Buddy Hall. As he was walking down the hallway to go play Jean, Keith passed by him and said, "Hey, Buddy?" Buddy cut Keith off and said, "Keith, I don't want to hear it," and he kept on walking. He knew he was going to be sitting in the electric chair soon. Buddy too got drilled by Jean Balukas that year.
Last year, Tiger Woods lost a televised golf tournament, hitting 'em pretty badly as I recall. The media was already hinting that Tiger Woods' number-one standings was in jeopardy, that he may be getting too old. Give me a break. Tiger went on to win many more events after this one isolated tournament, and today, he's still "King of the Hill," to borrow a phrase from pool.
Here's a cute snapshot of Earl Strickland who was getting ready to play Karen Corr in the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour Finale in Maine. Everyone was jockeying for position to see this match-up. Earl appeared as though he was confident, but I could tell he wasn't liking it. Karen Corr was her usual self, determined and full of concentration.
Keith was practicing on the next table for his match, and he started to rib Earl a bit having to play a girl by the name of Karen Corr. Earl Strickland took it in stride and enjoyed Keith's ribbing. However, he did go on to defeat Karen this time around, but I can assure you that he didn't like having to play her because he knows Karen is no slouch.

It seems to me Earl doesn't like to play the ladies...This is true for a lot of guy players....it truely is a no win situation. You have to beat up on a girl or be beaten by one...
Personally I don't care who beats me, I'm still losing and feeling the sting. Any win I get at this point be it against a man or woman is just as sweet, because a win is a win

The first time I met my wife was at the grand opening of a pool room. I asked her to play and lost every game on purpose....well ok I really did lose a few, but to this day whenever we talk about that chance encounter she always sais "when I met him, He couldn't make a ball!" sometimes I think I should have just ran every rack...,but I don't think she would have said yes to dinner! I don't mind getting beat by a woman at all...
As far as Earl is concerned, I REALLY hope he can get himself some help and get back in top form. Sure he is always a topic of conversation, but when he 's running racks, very few can stay with him....who else would be able to stay with Efren in a race to 125?!
