Hey Bill...how's it going?

Mike? Yeah, I know Mike. I've never hit a ball with one of his cues. The few that I've seen look nice...LOL. I know this doesn't help but....wait a minute...I think Lorry plays with one but not 100%...he's always sporting his Polo at tournaments. Might want to ask him.

mike is a really cool guy, several local guys play with his cues and seem to like them.
I have only hit a few balls with one, Lorry, and Ricky I know both play with one.
I figure if its good enough for those two then they must hit decent.

Danny Petralba played with one of Mikes cues for a long time, but just switched recently. Friend of mine has a Montalvo with the SICKEST cocabolo you have EVER seen. I need to get pics posted of that cue, its unbelievable.

Mike is newer to the cue building game but builds a really nice cue.

Mike Montalvo builds a good cue. He is well trained, has his own style, and is a very conscientious cue builder. His volume is relatively low, but his pricing is outstanding.

I recommend him and his work. montalvocues@yahoo.com

the guy who makes 'em cut my hair one day. while i was sitting there getting my hair cut i noticed all the pictures of champions on the walls. he said he was a cue maker and showed me a couple of his cues and some of his shop.

he was pretty arrogant and that's why i didn't end up picking one of his cues up. i had 2k in my pocket but he kept talking down to me so i didn't pick anything up

Mike made the cues that I bought from him at Ariel's shop and he picked up a few pointers from him on the way.

I love the titanium 3/8 10 pin that I put a Z2 on to shoot with.:)

That doesn't really sound like Mike. Musta been an isolated incident.

Mike's has a barber shop with his cue shop in the back. He will commonly have pool videos (or movies) playing for his barber patrons.

Hmmm.... I need a haircut...

Hmmmm

I donated an entry fee(again) a couple of years ago to a 10ball tournament in Ranch Cucamonga (Stix's) that I believe was co-sponsored by Montalvo cues and Kent Davis cues if memory serves.

I warmed up with Danny Petralba. By that, I mean I racked for him about 8 games in a row. This racking practice came in handy when I lost to Ernesto Dominguez 6-1. He scratched on a tough 10ball cut. The second loss was not as memorable but equally inevitable. (Fach, I think-hard to keep them all straight)

A belated thank you to Mike and Kent for sponsoring that event. Most of the local big dogs came out. We 'dead money' supporters were there
to help too.

Apparently some strong Socal players play Montalvo cues. That speaks well for any cuebuilder. I hope to hit one some day.

Thanks-to all responders/(Roger-nice to hear from ya)

Take care

Since you have one figure you'd be a good person to ask. What's up with these titanium pins? Don't they seem to be just gimmicky ? RELEVANT advantages? Thanks!

My cues have heavier more dense woods than Maple so titanium offsets some weight for better balance

Difference Between Steel and Titanium

Steel vs Titanium

Physical qualities of titanium make it a preferable material used by automobiles, aerospace, jewelry and many other industries. It has been known for its high strength and toughness, durability and low density, and ability to withstand high and low temperatures. The corrosion resistance and biological compatibility of titanium are another two attributes very useful in a variety of applications like surgical implants etc. it is precious and costly when compared to steel. Steel is corrosive, rusts, stains, and is heavier than titanium. Steel’s density is 7.85 g/cm3, and titanium has 56% that of steel.

Gotchu. I am pretty familiar with Titanium, the weight savings is the first thing that came to mind as I didn't see any other of its other attributes relevant to cue construction. But then when I thought about its size ( ie weight ) due to what I perceived a very insignificant weight even for the steel I WONDERED if the net savings of weight would pass the cost / benefit analysis. I figured its use may be for marketing purposes ( which is cool - plenty and plenty of other types of products use it strictly for marketing purposes only ).

Mike has been developing a kick-ass new shaft. I hit with it the other day and I was pretty amazed.. If I told you his secret, I'd have to kill you...lol
