And why?

I've been using med.layered leather tips for years.I currently have talisman on all of my shooting cues right now.I can usually get these for about 25 bucks installed. This last one cost 30 but no biggie.I had it put on a new cue I just bought because the "feel" of the one piece med.tip that was on it just wasn't what I am used to and the money was well spent as the difference was noticable and more familiar.

The thing is,two of my buddies were there at the PH (not my usual spot)
and were really talking up the Mooris they had put on thier respective cues.To hear them tell it these tips OUTSTANDINg and leaps and bounds above the other tip options.

Now these aren't guys you are gonna see on tv next week, but they are PH regulars with pretty decent games who are used to having and maintaining cues. They also had nothing to gain whichever I chose, though the moori was another ten spot.

I stuck with the talisman anyhow, but they got me wondering?
Figured I'd hunt down the opinions here before making my mind up come next time.

I paid Joe Blackburn $50 a piece to put 2 mooris on my playing cue back in 2001 at the US Open. Then I went out and purchased a lathe. I pay $10 for Moori and $10 for a Sniper. I purchased about 30 Talisman tips in 2004. I like them all. I honestly do not have a favorite. They are all great playing tips. They are kinda like cues. It takes a few strokes to get use to a cue. I have about 20 cues and I can play about the same speed with them all after a little warm up. It is absolutely about the archer and not so much the arrow. JMHO

I have been playing with Moori mediums for seven or eight years. Their play is very consistent and they hold their shape pretty well, although earlier generations seemed better in this regard. By the way, I think your tip guy is robbing you. 25-30 dollars is typically what I pay for a Moori. Kind of high for a Talisman...

Don't

This I know...Only show in town at the moment.Cheaper then the gas and time though...and he knows it I imagine.A bit of a wash for the consumer though so conveinience wins out ya know?

I like Morri. I had a new tip put on a few months ago and told him to put a morri 3 med on. He put a lepro on. I was pissed at first but needed to have the cue and play with it so I kept the lepro on it. It plays a little different with a little softer hit, but I got used to it and I think I misscue less with it. The softer tip maybe a little more forgiving for my erratic stroke.

Hate them. Money for nothing. 50 cents for a Triangle and there is nothing that you can't do with it that you can do with a Moori. Talk is cheap...;)

i like the sniper the best, though the moori is a close second. they both play great, but you don't have to maintain the sniper as much, it keeps its shape really well, never gets glassy, and hasn't mushroomed on me yet.

I've been playing competively for 7 years now and over that time I've tried several different types. IE - Le Pro, Tiger Everest, Talisman, Moori Soft & now Medium. I'd never go back to Le Pro, good starter tip but once you play a layered tip you never want to go back to a one peice. The Everest Tip plays very well for me but I don't like the mushroom. The Talisman performed well but I still had mushroom issues. Moori Soft is my all time favorite only slight Mushrooming very manageable. Right now I'm experimenting with a Moori Medium. To soon to tell but so far I like the performance, hit & shape holding characteristics. I'm just trying to get used to the extra speed the tip generates.

Le Pro, this should be the standard; meaning all other tips should be compared to a Le Pro. Very inexpensive, and they play well. A Triangle is very similar, only a little harder and lasts a little longer; they are the same price.

This I will agree with ten fold regardless of how the morri discussion unfolds.

I've had the same experience, but I've had a bit of mushrooming with the Sniper where I've never had a Morri mushroom on me.

That said, I'll stick with my Sniper. Requires less shaping IMO.

All tips mentioned are high quality, and a good value with the exception of a Morri, but the price paid is a small amount to pay for an item that IMO is the most important part of any cue, period.

The problem with Lepro is quality. Out of box of 50, if you can find 20 good ones, you've done good.
Moori hard on all my cues.

First of all, it seems to me that players have trouble when they *switch* tips or switch the shape of their tip. So I think it is best to select a tip, tip hardness, and a tip shape, then stick with that forever.

I use a Moori Q (hard) tip. I selected this after trying out many different tips. It seems to me that this hard tip works just as well as the softer Moori tips and Moori tips in general seem me to work better than other tips I have tried.

And by working better, I mean it seems the tip gets a better "grip" on the cue ball and plays this way consistently. (I lightly scuff with a sandpaper shaper about every 8 or so hours of play.)

Looking at the Moori in a magnifying glass, it looks like a fine low pile carpeting. Other tips look like shag carpeting. I think the Moori gets more contact on the cue ball because there are not little hairs sticking up here and there (keeping the rest of the tip from making good contact), but I am only guessing.

Oh, btw, if you do go with a Moori, at least go with a hard one! But I personally like Triangles.

About 2 years ago I switched to moori mediums. I played with triangles for the last 15 years or so prior. With my stroke, I can get a heck of alot more action on the cueball with the mooris. They seem like they grip the ball a bit better, and require much less care/fussing with than triangles. The hit feels similar to me...... and much better performance. IMO its worth the extra money.

Started with a Le Pro about 7 years ago when I started playing..Later tried Triangle, Sumo and 3 or 4 others I can't even remember the name of..Finally settled on the Med. Moori....Played with the Morri for about 5 years and about 6 months ago let my buddy talk me into a Le Pro. Four weeks later it came off and I tried a Triangle..Now last week I went back to the Med. Moori. Not saying the other tips were bad, but I just feel more comfortable with the Moori...So I'm sticking with Moori's...

I have tried Triangle, Tailisman Pro, and Water buffalo, Moori Medium, I did not like the hard Triangle tip, misscued a lot. The Tailsman tips, I had problems with them mushrooming and everyone I tried the centers popped out. Tony replace an order and they did the same thing. Every since then I have used the Moori tip. It is a little more expensive but it last longer and I have not had an issue with it mushrooming. Everyone is going to have a different feel for what tip they like, so you should use what feels best to you. There is going to be bad tips what ever brand you use.

i like moori tips that's about all i use. i've wanted t try water buffalo tips for a while. i had snipers on one cue for a while. it was good but i think i'll stick to moori's
