Moori Tips

Just got a box of Med and softs. The softs hit like the previous med. The med are just a little harder hitting than the new softs. ??? These softs are mushrooming. Have the Moori tips changed that much or do I have a bad batch?????

Can anyone give us some feedback on the Hightower / Porper tip trimming tools??

Have you ever seen a 'soft' tip that didn't mushroom ? What I can tell you is that once the tip has mushroomed, trim the sides and it should never need to be addressed again, unless you want to start breaking with it.

Let me be the first to take exception with your post. Moori tips are of the highest quality you will find anywhere in the world. It's not likely that Moori-San has farmed out his tips to China. He takes great pride in his work and his efforts are appreciated world-wide. In this case, it IS about the quality.

Unless you have first hand information on their country of manufacture that you'd like to share, then let's keep information that we share on this forum to the truth rather than speculation and/or attempts at humor. Misguided information can have devastating results.

There are fake Mooris circulating around the market. That's why they changes the package and sail the Mooris. But to be onest, the real ones also mushrooms when it isn't installed correctly.

Help me on this one. If you "install" a dozen "Morri" tips in a day & 2 of them mushroom, are you saying that those 2 were installed incorrectly? Please tell me how to install a "morri" wrong. I need to know.THANKS.

Does he still own Moori or did he sell it a few years back.
I've seen some Mooris delaminate during normal install.
Kamuis are better imo.
 
ive had a few come apart. it happened alot with the automatic tip shaper if the bit wasnt like brand new.

i just use a razor by hand now

i also apply pressure while cutting the dia down and only cut twards the ferrule

Hi Joey,
I'd heard many years ago that Moori-San was on his death-bed from over exposure to the chemicals used in his tanning process but as far as selling the business to a Chinese company, well, I haven't heard that one yet. If in fact that is the case then I will be the first to admit ignorance.
 
I wonder who spread the rumor of fake moori? I have to this date not seen a fake moori? I've been moving moori for years and never came across one? Anyone has pics of a fake moori? I would like to get my hand on one and find out who make them? I personally like the Molavia Hard, they are probably one of the best tip out on the market today IMHO.

In an effort to ward off the possibility of my having to admit to ignorance, I've done some investigating and lo and behold, each and every series 3 Moori tip has the word Japan printed on it. YIPPEE !!!
Well, I think that should put to rest the controversy of China or Japan as the country of manufacture. Personally, I'll take a product made in Japan over one made in China any day of the week. Maybe the tips that delaminated were Chinese knock-offs that had too much lead in the glue.

There were fake Mooris from Thailand but they were easy to spot.
 
"Thailand" now that news to me...there were guys saying the were from "Taiwan" or "China". Btw, I buy all my Moori from Osaka directly from Japan.

Well the hit of a tip is subjective to each individual, so "IMO" if that make it clearer, the Molavia Hard tip is the best tip on the market based on my experience over the last 4 plus years in trying all of them and selling all them. I have some clients that agrees with me and some don't who still prefer the Moori and some the Kamui.

Yes, I do sell Molavia but I also use them on all of my playing cues. I've also used to sell Kamui and still sell out my Moori but personally I think that both of the hit of the Moori and Kamui has changed. The best tips used to be the Original Moori MH and Kamui when he had the one hardness...these tips played great and consistent...I used to sell the original Kamui for $20 plus a piece and they were worth it. Now, I've tried several of the new Kamui and I can't find one that hit like the original....the only tips that I used now is the hard molavia ....just fit my playing style and is very consistent with low maintenance (Play like the original MH to me).

I agree with Duc regarding Molavia hard, but only the hard, not the medium. I prefer it over Moori. Never tried a Kamui. I need someone to send me a sample kamui to compare. ;)

Troy (Koinnkid on the forum) has them at a good price. I think Kerry Zeiler either has a share in or the whole USA distribution rights.
