Well, Ronnie Alcano was back at it again. This time he was playing Bernardo Chavez (King Kong) 9 ball giving him the 6 out for 1000 a set. Races to 15. Ronnie won two sets. That guy is crazy good. On his last trip out here he gave Ismel Peaz (Morro) the 7 and beat him Either 13-5, or 15-5, and it didnt even seem that close. Morro did get his money back playing 10 ball with the 6 I heard though.
Ronnie has given thta six out to a few guys so far and beat just about all of em. I have a feeling that before he's gone, Morro will get something crazy too. We'll see.

When I left Tony drago was playing 8 ball with Parica. I don't know how they were, but it was for a hundred or two a set.
 
When I got there (HT) around 7:00 PM Efren was playing Drago 8 ball & then he started to play chess with Ronalto. Tang was playing Raj 8 ball. Manalo was practicing his 8 ball break alone most of the night - the only one that was practicing. He could have won in Vegas but for his breaks.

Parica then played and beat Drago 2 races to 7 at 8 ball. In the first set, Drago was ahead 6 to 2 then Parica came back. Ronalto was warming up to play King Kong when I left.
Busta, Luat and Marcus Chamat were also there waiting to go to Reno. Arturo, Morro and Gerardo were there killing time before going to Shooters in Riverside this weekend.
 
Wow. I've never seen Chavez play, but I've heard he is a good player. Alcano, must be playing terrific to give out that kind of spot. $1k a set is not chump change either....

I thought Luat did not qualify for this next IPT tournament. Is he hoping someone would back out at the last moment so he can get in?

Thanks much to Canteverwin and Lamas for letting us know the happenings at Hard Times....sure wish I could be there.....This is another great thing about AzBilliards Forum....it's like we have eyes and ears everywhere...please keep us posted about the action...Salamander, the first time I saw Chavez play was at California Billiard Club in Mountain View, Ca. They call him King Kong and I was thinking he was a real monster at the tables....He was running out racks of 9-ball like driving on the freeway...like he had somewhere else to go and was in a hurry....it was beautiful to watch....
 
Alcano beat Kong 15-8 in the first set.
And 15-13 in the second set.
Freakin' unreal. Alcano gives a local legend the 6-out.

You know what, I think those 3 are even.
Whoever is shooting better that day wins.
They are really sickening to watch.
Alcano was moving that dreaded bowling ball Measles cueball perfectly.
It's so shocking how he can put an inside spin or top on the cueball and zing that ball like a yoyo and get perfect shape.
King Kong kept making mistakes by giving away the pushout and playing safe on Alcano.

Thanks for the updates guys. Alcano spent alot of time in CT a few years back and I watched him rob many a player. I also heard Efren say that Alcano was going to be the best in the world someday.

Does Chavez still have that 25-26 oz (debatable on weight per opponents) monstrosity of a break cue he used to swear by? It has a aluminum butt
(or partial aluminum) on it. He had it made from what I understand. I first saw him play in Vegas in a money match at Nationals. He should be up in years by now.

Here's a picture of Ronnie with JAM's man. He's an incredibly solid player and one of the reasons why so many believe (and rightly so) that the Phillipinos are the cream of the crop in the pool world.

Does anyone know if Ronnie played that young Hispanic kid last night? I don't know the kid's name but he was wearing a red shirt and shooting with a glove. I left around 12:45 last night and the kid was hitting balls on the table King Kong and Ronnie were playing on.
 
No, I believe that kids name is Jerry. I could be wrong. They didn't end up playing.

Efren may not be leaving anytime soon. However, I don't know if he offers King Kong the 6 out. Not trying to start in battles, but that is strong.

Thanks for the picture. I wish I lived in the west coast to witness that action. Anybody know if there are any accustats video that he is featured in. I would love to see his game.

damn, ronnie and keith are two ugly mofos!
 
I watched the first set between Alcano and Chavez. Ronnie played flawlessly, not missing anything and never getting out of line. It was pretty awesome Pool. In the second set he slowed down a little, but still got to the goal line. From now on, King Kong will be known as Minnie Mouse.

Tang and Raj hung out all night with Marcus and they decided to wake me at 2:30 AM to continue their game at my house. I let them in and went back to sleep. I woke up at 6 to the soft click of pool balls. You know, I love that sound.

Tang is playing strong right now, brimming with confidence. He looks like Tang, circa 1998, with a little more maturity.
 
After placing 5th at the US Open last year, us So Cal guys were getting excited about Tang's comeback. I hope he can get an IPT card and get back in stroke.
