I watched the first set between Alcano and Chavez. Ronnie played flawlessly, not missing anything and never getting out of line. It was pretty awesome Pool. In the second set he slowed down a little, but still got to the goal line. From now on, King Kong will be known as Minnie Mouse.

Tang and Raj hung out all night with Marcus and they decided to wake me at 2:30 AM to continue their game at my house. I let them in and went back to sleep. I woke up at 6 to the soft click of pool balls. You know, I love that sound.

Tang is playing strong right now, brimming with confidence. He looks like Tang, circa 1998, with a little more maturity.

Who do you think is the best? How would you rank this new generation of Filipino players?

Manalo is the best of them, a proven worldbeater in both nineball and eight ball in the game's premier events. In addition, Manalo dominated a very tough field in the 2005 NJ Straight Pool Championships. Marlon is the real deal, an all-around superstar. Orcullo isn't far behind, and Alcano, at least to me, is a cut below the other two. Still, they all play great.

6-out $500 race to 15.
They were using the wooden rack in the first set until they laid down the Sourdough Rack mandatory on table 1.
King Kong figured out the rack by cutting the one-ball and making the 6-ball in the breaking side corner.
But King Kong dogged his brains out all night. Before the match started he was telling the railbirds NOBODY has given him that kind of weight.
Sure since Efren only gave him the 5 and the 6 back in 95.

Wow, I almost can't imagine anyone giving Bernardo that kind of weight on the square!

Alcano gave Francisco Galindo the same weight the night before.
I wonder if he gives Morro the 7-ball tonite.
