More Diamond 7' bounce

Who said anything about energy?

Maybe the bounce adds to the illusion of more speed.
Flubber! See Fred MacMurray (or Robin Williams) for a demo.

If you really want to see a cue ball defy physics and speed up by itself, try to shoot a 3 foot straight in shot at a ping-pong ball w/out sinking the cue ball.

Re Diamond rails, the red label (Illinois) I played on a while back felt insane; later, a blue (Anchorage) seemed reasonable at least. Pretty much only Gold Crowns here in W. Mass.

Took longer than I thought for the mumbo jumbo crew to come out with percentages and coefficients in this thread
You allergic to facts and actual test results? What is 'mumbo jumbo' in your eyes in this thread? Pool is so full of old-wives tales and long held false info that anything factual freaks them out. Not saying you're in that group but much of pool is.

Mumbo jumbo just like I said when they break out stimpometers and stupid shit like that . A coefficient is gonna make you make more balls?
Just play pool , didn’t brumback say , I don’t know what any of that is, I just shoot pool?

If all that helped so much you’d see people pull up a lab kit to the table and check the humidity levels under each light

You do realize that these forums are organized into topics, and we are discussing the topic of how diamond rails play, right?

(organized) a piano changed to with big tubes attached going upward to change the sound.

and i never said an ordinary golf ball will jump higher than it was dropped or a pool table cushion is going to rebound faster than it was hit.
but said if the wall was elastic enough it could. as in a trampoline. or something shot into a slingshot would rebound faster than it went in.

you cant take a piece of physics and apply it to all different cases.

Unfortunately Brunswick makes shit now and diamond makes the best. The world changes.
Huh? Gold Crowns still play the same: perfectly. I just played on a few GC6's in Greece and they played the exact same as the hundreds of 5's, 4's, 3's, and older I've played on since pickup up a pool cue in the 90's.

this is what I tell people who ask my opinion. If your buying a 7 foot table and want something that plays tough and you will need a good stroke diamond is all there is. If your buying a 9 foot you can save some money and buy a gold crown (an older one) and you will plenty happy. It will play great and last a life time.
There is now the Gold Crown Coin. It plays excellent. Same with the 7' Predator, it plays excellent, but has a tinny sound when pocketing a ball. The rails on both of these tables can give Diamond 7' rails the 5 out and the break. Diamond is not the only quality 7' table anymore.

WE GOT IT. Believe me we got it. Bitch to Diamond. Please. Welcome back to ignore. For good this time. This shit is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay past tiring.
Ha ha ha. I had no idea you ever had me on ignore:) I've bitched to Diamond. They never write back.

At least Predator when I complained about their balls not having numbers on both sides wrote me back.

How old are all of these gold crowns' rails that you are comparing all diamonds to?

I'm with Bob, get a stimpmeter (or create your own ball ramp) and put numbers to it. I'm curious if you would find the same variation in rolls/bounciness with gold crowns and diamonds in the same room.
I started playing pool in the early 90's. It was all Gold Crowns then. I've played on everything from brand new Gold Crows of 4's 5's and 6's to 50 year old or older GC1's. The whole range, as probably many of us here have. The variation in all those GC's in my experience is very small.

I'm working on a stimpmeter to put numbers to this. Here is a thread on it if you are interested. It's not easy to make a good one, however. https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/3d-printed-stimpmeter.557484/

I never expected perpetual motion to be invented on AZ Billiards, who knew.

So long as it’s not a Uniloc, All you have to do is take a Dremil and grind away all but one thread on your pin.

The resulting rattle in your playing cue will match the resonant frequency of the cue ball and you’ll generate perfectly accurate bounce every time with no loss of energy - it’s science.

I would pay for one of your stimpmeters and do tests on my 9' diamond, which is under a year old. Well, delivered from diamond and installed within the last year. I do, however, think that when using your stimpmeter to test straight into the rail, the ball should be on the bed/cloth when it hits the nose of the rail, not raised up like in that video you posted.

The ball must be on the cloth when it hits the rail. Absolutely. It has to be rolling just like a real ball in a game.

I think the best way to measure the speed of the ball is to see how far it rolls off the cushion and compare that to a ball that is rolled diagonally across the table without ever hitting a cushion. The difference in rolling distances tells you what percentage of energy was lost in the cushion contact.

Rails and setups are everything.
We have two rooms in town with 7' diamonds.
They play very consistently in each place, but not at all alike from room to room.
It takes a few minutes to adjust to the conditions but it becomes automatic.
I have played at different rooms with rails so bouncy I played an extra rail for shape because my normal patters could not be played.
That's frustrating and a definite advantage to the local players who frequent the room.
That's life. Just do what Gunny Highway told his men to do.
