More Pool Wars

Alright so I may be just a bit behind the curve. But I just ordered the first book. Figured I can't start reading the second in a series if I haven't tasted the first one.

Thanks Jay

....for such an enjoyable read.

I just finished reading the book this morning. Lots of cool stories, and your writing style takes the reader right in the middle of whatever is going on in the tale.

Fun read.

Thanks Jay.

Savor each bite

Jay,

Sorry for not weighing in right away but I have purposely rationed how much I read at a sitting. I liken it to going to an expensive gourmet restaurant ... you want to savor each bite and take your time, not just wolf it down as quick as possible. Even at my snail's pace I'm now almost done and thought it was high time to sing your praises!!

Great read, thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended! I wish you much success with it and hope not to have to wait so long for the next one.

Regards,
Tom

Thanks guys! It's stuff like this that makes it all worthwhile. I'm like everyone else, wondering if I'm good enough or if I did a good job. I have to admit I always worry how a book of mine will be received. Thanks so much for letting me know that you enjoyed it.

If there is anyone who ordered More Pool Wars and has not received it yet please let me know. We did have one copy lost in transit and somehow delayed for one week.

Thanks for the speedy mail delivery Jay. I got the book yesterday. I only have read a about 20-25 pages so far and of course it is very good like I knew it would be. I have read many a review of your writings, and what comes up the most is, "You feel like your right there when reading anything of Jay's with his style of writing" and I agree with that completely. Don't miss out on a good read. Johnnyt

My man John! We could have grown up together, two scufflers! Actually if we had met back then, we would have been playing each other for sure.

Jay,

Just finished reading your book cover to cover and have one thing to say...Well done, sir! Excellent read and insight.

Growing up in Oak Park, MI I too sold Jew Paul's pots and pans (not ovenware) for a few weeks so I could fund my first trip to Vegas. The guy I worked with had a little different version: he would load up 1 or 2 trucks, drive to industrial areas of Chicago and for 3 days place the flyers on the windshields of cars in industrial parking lots for all to show up at a gas station we had paid to park and sell the cookware and knife sets. Sold out the 2 weeks I did this so I guess it worked well. I also had CHI Town deep-dish pizza for the 1st time during these trips in 1974. I finally funded my Vegas trip, had all expenses covered plus $400 to gamble with, I went busted I about an hour and a half. :)

Thanks for putting the time in to write about your life, I love reading it.

Dave

Thanks Dave, I'm pretty sure all the older guys can relate. All of us knew about the ovenware deal! There must have been a few dozen pool players that Jew Paul recruited to sell it. We all made out like bandits.

Jay, Just finished your book. Had been hoping for more stories on pool & pool players but enjoyed it nonetheless. I also had a Honda 350 Scrambler (a long with 12 other bikes) and that brought back good memories! You've certainly lead an interesting life and I thank you for sharing some of it with us. I've always admired your professionalism and integrity. Wishing you all the best, Curt

Jay, Some years ago, (mid to late 60's) when I first met a young Incardona,..he had me give him a ride to pick up a U-Haul rental truck. He had a shipment of cookware coming in by rail car..I didn't know all the details, and Billy I. doesn't post here much but I'm curious, is the time frame right that it could have been coming from Jew Paul ?...If it was, he had quite a network of good, smart hustler's peddling that stuff all over the country..No wonder he amassed quite a fortune..Thats almost like dealing drugs, and it's legal !

PS..Can't hold out any longer..I'll PM you my address, and you can send me both your books...I've never been a big fan of pool player's bio's...It seems almost all are 75% brag, ($$$ won) and 25% BS, but, I'm sure I will enjoy yours.

Yep, Billy was selling the same stuff that Danny and I had. Jew Paul and Bernie Schwartz ran the operation and they were constantly recruiting pool player to sell it. We were all good hustlers and salesmen!

You'll be happy with my books. They're 100% BS!
