Mosconi Cup 2010 - Who would you pick?.

The Cup is a Matchroom competiton and they sure wouldn't do that, not saying it's a bad idea. However Matchroom want the most bang for their buck, they want the most well known players on both sides to ensure maximum sponsorship and TV Money etc.

While I think Chris Bartram's team selection would do very well, as Jay says, it just ain't going to happen. We can all speculate on who we think should be there, it's good reading. Whoever is picked we need to give them all the support we can, both here and in London, if possible. Europe are a very good team and York Hall is a very intimidating venue. I'd love for people just to congratulate those who are picked and wish them the best of luck. If you don't agree with the picks take it up with Matchroom after the Cup's been played and give them suggestions for next year. They will not change their selections because someone thinks this player or that player should have gone. Just My Opinion.

i should have siad i was playing about my team.

Chris I know, but I still think it's unfortunate that 'your team' or anything remotely like it will never happen, that's just the nature of the beast that is the Mosconi Cup. I didn't mean to imply in my last post that you were anything other than joking and provoking talking points with your selections. That is one of the things this Forum is all about and does so well.

The other part was aimed at those people, including some players (Chris was not one of them), who thought Oscar shouldn't have played and said as much out loud, some even before the competition. What I was saying was that while everyone has a right to their opinion, sometimes it's counter productive to voice them at a particular moment. What people should do, is show a unified front and public support for the Team. If they have genuine gripes, constructive criticism or suggestions on improvements, air those after the Cup has been concluded. Make sure that they go to those that can change things namely Matchroom Sports in this case.

No organisation such as Matchroom will reverse a selection because some people feel it's incorrect, that's simply a fact of life. However what Matchroom and Barry Hearn in particlar have always done, has been to listen and respond. Matchroom Sports have always responded to my questions, whatever they have been and given reasons behind that response they have given. That is quite frankly a breath of fresh air, most other organisations either don't respond at all or just blow you off.

Chris please do me one favor ..................................go out and win the US Open in a couple of weeks!! Then Matchroom would either have no choice but to:

(a) Pick you for the Team as US Open Champion
(b) If a Fan Vote they would have to include you and I would hope that
the people here and elsewhere would ensure your inclusion.

Then dude the first beer in London is definately on me.

I never placed my dream team list on here but here it goes.

Jason Miller /2006 Derby City ALL Around Champion
John Brumback /2009 Derby City ALL Around Champion
Johnny Archer
Shannon Daulton
Scott Frost
John Schmidt

This team is filled with killer instinct and proven heart! More known for one pocket and/or bank pool are most of them. These players above can bring the heat when needed under pressure!!!!!

or

Johnny Archer
Shannon Daulton
Shane Van Boeing
Dennis Hatch
Corey Deuel
Mike Dechaine

Each team list has a little new blood and a little old! But, i doubt either of these teams will be assembled! Shannon deserves it based on past history! Archer deserves it based on history and current performance! Shane Van Boaning Current and past performance! Dennis History! Corey Deuel past history and current performance! Mike Dechaine showed great calmness playing Mike Sigel and his current play is outstanding!

Alternate for these players would have to be Danny "The Man" Harriman

All quick update, just received an email from Matchroom Media Director confirming 2nd European player to be selected is Ralf Souquet, I guess we all knew he'd be there.
