Mosconi Cup 2021 Day 2 Updates

JJ blew 2 easy wins ...this thing should be 7-2.
didn't get to see the 1st one JJ played, but that second loss was on Chris..JJ told him to just leave it there and he tried to do too much with follow. Feels bad for Chris and team USA, 6-3 would have been huge.

All and all a great match. It all came down to a missed five ball by Chris. It was not that easy a shot though. No props for the coms here. They made excuses for the Euro mistakes and were critical of good shots by USA. Even went so far as to say this could be the turning point in the match for Europe. I think not. USA will sleep well tonight in the lead. David Alcaide was solid as a rock and Kaci looked shaky but held it together. His missed two ball with BIH could have ultimately cost them the match.

JJ"s knowlege really showed up here. And he made a great shot on the seven ball down the rail to win an early game, and all games are critical in these short matches. The gray cloth looks fine on TV. The camera work is good so you can see the balls clearly when they close in. I promise not to say another word about the miscolored five ball!

I've never seen JJ have so much fun. My opinion is this match would never be this close with Earl on the team. It would have been all about Earl and not about Team USA. Now we have a great underdog story and potential heroic outcome for our Captain, Jeremy Jones! I don't think I've ever pulled this hard before for Team USA. I've always wanted to see them win, but this year feels different. Of course I had to be neutral when I was a com.

Once again Matchroom has come up roses with this one. Just when it looked like a big clusterfuc' was in the offing, it all turned around in a heartbeat, and now we have a stirring television drama, all good for Pool! I always reserve the right to change my mind and I have! :)

Europe certainly hasn't looked like the Juggernaut they seem to think they are.
Yeah, but that last match come back was a huge momentum shifter. At 6-3, we would’ve only had to win 2 of 5 matches tomorrow to have been in great shape going into the final day.

Chris missed because cueball was on the rail....

This thing was supposed to be over by now. A forgone conclusion. (if you listen to Filler's analysis)

When the cue ball is left on the rail, even the pros have trouble with these.
We've all seen examples of pros missing shots on the rail but Reinhold probably still liked his chances from there. The fact is it was a tricky, makeable shot that would have all but closed out the match.

Both teams have gotten some rolls and won a couple matches that could have gone the other way.

USA’s chances of winning hinge on three things IMO: SVB winning his remaining singles matches, one of Chris/JJ stealing a singles match, and Sky/Tyler maintaining their high level of play.

Of course, Europe is also primed to come alive at any point, and if Albin and Kaci can shake off their nerves, USA may simply not have the firepower to maintain a lead.

Regardless, I think this goes to at least 11-9.
