MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

looked like the table rolled off- quite strange. Has it been rolling off in the matches? I've been too busy to watch any of it
In the match before, Woodward pocketed the 7 in the side with a slow roll, it went a bit too far. During the roll he said something about it rolling off. I do believe it was the sidepocket where Shaw was lagging.

I saw some iffy rolls near the footstring, but they weren’t severe enough to mention.

I wonder if that’s the first scratched lag in major tournament history. Missing by almost a diamond isn’t possible with just table rolloff. There had to be some sidespin or terrible aim involved.

EDIT: I rewatched the video and that was indeed massive table rolloff. It didn’t start heading towards the corner until the half table point, and drifted offline at least 6-7 inches. It looked like a friggin’ putt at Augusta National.

I just re-watched it - that was a MASSIVE table rolloff. Whoever set that table up should be held to account.

would like to see a better pick of players. corey or justin bergman should be considered let the fans vote on our representatives.. also a diamond table to play on.

How's Justin going to get there? Corey plays worse than Shane at MC.

I think it's just some bad rolls this year, score should be much closer.

I love that Shaw and Filler are playing to the crowd - great to see Shaw having the crowd be loud during his shooting, the way it should be

justin is like 95% retired. corey doesn't play much more. these two would make ZERO difference in the outcome.

Morra is a 794FR and #62 in the world, above Styer and Wolford (neither of whom are in the top 100). Alex is an 813FR and #26 in the world, above Woodward at #30, which would make him the 3rd strongest player on the team this year.

Perhaps they haven't had the greatest recent results, but hard to argue that they wouldn't be at least as good as Woodward, and Alex would likely be better.
Fair points. I have to agree.

Maybe not. There is a video of Hohmann scratching on the lag with even worse rolloff. In that case it was the cue ball. The balls for the lag are a special red/blue commemorative design. I didn't see any rolloff on the second lag.

On the 2nd day, the table appeared to roll in the other direction (towards the center diamond) in the clip I posted earlier:

I agree. That looked to be just a little left of Sky’s lag roll (as viewed from the foot of the table), which would indicate some kind of ridge on that side of the table, between the path of those two balls. Perhaps a cracked/defective slate? Something under the cloth? Thicker section of cloth? Weird.

Correct - it’s just as likely the roll off was from an out of round ball as it is due to the table being out of level, especially if they are using special balls for lagging.
