It IS what Matchroom wants.
This was made clear the last year they chose Earl to play.
This is about entertainment more than it is about pool.
It's why they make a huge deal about "golden breaks".
Pool players hate them resulting in free wins but Matchroom loves them.
They would nut all over themselves if someone snapped 5 9balls in a match for the win.
They would like nothing more than to see that spectacle as opposed to 5 precision run outs.

I’m having a hard time finding the right words right now.

I think some “fun” is cool, the dry snooker player thing I think would be a mistake. But if it’s a classless shit show, that’s just as bad the other direction.

The dart players are kinda fun and have done well

Lol, I have no idea where that line is.

I would probably be too far from the middle on the side of fun, than most.

So far what I have seen, I have enjoyed thoroughly.

I think Matchroom is hoping pool turns into darts (which would be better than playing in seedy hotel conference rooms in cheap tuxedos).
 
I can't even find it on the guide. It would be helpful if they mentioned which SkySports channel was carrying it. There are a lot of them.
 
The American audience is in strong numbers, and there's a few things I like and a few things I don't care for. I didn't like the audience fat-shaming Kaci to tuck his shirt in. As a cury girl, for lack of a better word, I don't like that. :)

I did notice Scott Frost coming to the Team USA side between each frame, though I'm not sure if he's a co-captain or giving advice. I know he cares a great deal for the team.

I don't want to offend anyone, but if you're going to bring babies to a loud event like this, at least put headphones on the baby. I heard babies screaming and crying yestreday in the background. It hurt my heart.

Well, 2 more minutes. Let's go!

I couldn't believe the babies either. What a strange choice, especially without ear protection.

I didn't think it was fat shaming, could be wrong. Most are probably aware he is recovering from injury. He brushed a ball with his shirt last time is what the commentary said.

probably means something in italy or greece where they have a catalogue of gestures. means nothing to me. billy has been highly entertaining imo, but needs to back it up with points

Maybe Joe Rogan can talk Elon into buying the rights to the MC so the USA fans don't get shafted every year by MR and DAZN. I have a VPN on my box but it has Skysports Arena as dead air so I assume that's the channel carrying the cup today.

What ticks me off is that when I first looked up the Mosconi Cup on matchroom.live it said I needed to subscribe to view it, but it didn't say anything about any geographic restrictions.

Yes, as far as I have seen it is only DAZN in US. When I was logged in and looked at events it only showed Snooker. Then I switched my wifi connection to my second router that has a built in VPN connected to Toronto and then refreshed the events page, then Mosconi showed up. So they georestrict. There is a link earlier in this thread that I posted that showed their press release on where to watch.
