The evening session should be a good one, it's anyone's game going into the last six matches. I just hope it doesn't end in a tie, that would really be ashame for it to end that way.

12-11to europe last game between alcaide - duel 0-0, 1-0 to euro, duel holds serv 1-1, 2-1 cum-on, its 2-2, alcaide misses 9 ball cory pots 2-3, corey gets combo 2-4, corey wins 5-2 , 12-12 us keep the cup

Wow! Congratulations to Mike Davis. Down 4 -1 to Immonen, nothing less than winnning four straight racks would keep the Mosconi Cup from ending. Mike was up to the challenge, securing the 5 - 4 win.

This brought back memories of Immonen vs Davis in the quarterfinals of the World Straight Pool Championships earlier this year. Immonen led by 105 balls when Davis delivered a magical run of 107. Immonen survived, but I remember just how much heart Davis showed that night.

Today, way behind, he came all the way back. Brilliant!!!!!

USA wins it!!!!! Amazing! I only wish I had been able to watch it live (and that they had included bumper pool in the competition)...

Early results are that the U.S. won the first 6-man team match, with the Europeans coming back and winning the 3-man team match. The schedule shows one more 3-man team match to be the final match of Day 1. After two matches, it's all tied up at 1-1.
USA RETAINS THE MOSCONI CUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I wanna know is where's that vBookie at? If you see him tell him I want my money, and I want it now!:)

Go Rick S.! You got the high stack now!

they didn't win.. it was a tie so they can keep the Cup....

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Splitting hairs over the wording doesn't change the fact that Europe didn't get the cup, and sounds an awful lot like sour grapes. Better luck next year.

Tristan, I had to read it myself to understand it, but this is what Luke Riches posted on another pool-related forum:

To correct your misconception, if the score finishes 12-12, the Mosconi Cup will have finished a draw, and will be reflected as such for the record. Also the prize money will be split between the two teams.

Team USA will retain the trophy but will not in any way be deemed to have won the Mosconi Cup.

I wonder why they don't have a tie breaker. That would have made for an amazing finish. Ending in a draw is just so... anticlimactic...

I agree that it shouldn't end in a tie. It makes the whole event seem pointless
to a casual observer it must seem how I feel about a soccer match ending 0-0. I couldn't imagine any major sporting event end in a tie without somehow being decided. Sure soccer does end many games with a tie but the World Cup would never end in a draw. I guess Earl breaking his cue and Corey moaning like a little girl about nothing is the most exciting thing about the Mosconi Cup this year. The organizers of the event must change the format next year so no draw is possible, if they don't they are in deep trouble.

it was anticlimatic but thats it for another year, this year they ran it like the ryder cup , i. e. it has to be won by the challanger to wrest it away from the holder, well done enjoy it while you can
