Mosconi Cup Updates

After one race to six I have learned that Chris Melling is a world beater and Shane Van Boening sucks.

Who knew?

lmao. ok pal.

when someone gets this match on youtube, i'll be happy to break it down for you based on shots at certain times, so that you will understand what was really happening.

Your kidding rite..Look at the match that Mike missed the 9 when his was shooting off the rail.First shot Shane leaves Mike with a back cut on the 3.Mike makes it goes down table and breaks out the next ball, leaves Shane with a pretty routine shot, again Shane left Mike shooting off the rail.Mike makes the shot and leaves Shane maybe not perfect on the 8 but wasnt to difficult of a shot and getting back on the 9 shouldnt of been a problem. For the 3rd time Shane puts mike in jeopardy by leaving him on the rail.
Anyone that has played pool for a while will realize sooner or later these type of shots will cost you.
It might of looked like Mike dogged it but i am pretty positive Shane let the dog loose.

This game turned things around.

Schedule for day 2

Match 6 Doubles - Van Boening / Archer v Van den Berg / Feijen
Match 7 Singles - Mike Dechaine v Ralf Souquet
Match 8 Doubles - Putnam / Morris v Appleton / Melling
Match 9 Singles - Johnny Archer v Nick van den Berg
Match 10 Doubles - Van Boening / Morris v Souquet / Melling

Score is 2-1 for SVB / Archer.

NVDB for Europe to break in rack 4. 8 ball goes down on the break.

Niels has a nice shot on the 1 ball, good position on the 2. No problems on the table. 2-2

SVB breaks in the 5th rack, 2 balls down. After a tricky 2ball USA clears nicely, score is now 3-2 USA

Feijen breaks in the 6th rack and the wingball goes down again. Good positional shot from NVDB on the 1 ball leaves Niels perfect on the 2 ball. Easy layout and Niels makes the 9 for a 3-3 score. It won't suprise me if this match goes to hill-hill.

Archer breaks in the 7th rack, for the first (?) time the wingball rattles in the pocket but the 1ball is made into the side. Again no real problems on the table. Archer on the 7ball with angle to go 2 rails onto the 8. Shane draws the 8 back to leave Archer a nice 9ball. Another run out, the score is now 4-3 in favor of USA

It's interesting how often the wing balls is going even with the high rack.

Europe to break in rack 8, the 5ball goes down but so does the cueball. BIH USA.
The balls are spread out nicely. Archer plays rail first onthe 4ball to get the cueball off the rail.
Archer ready to shoot the 9 ball. USA on the hill

The 5 ball is blocking the 3 ball into the corner pocket. Nick leaves Niels the 3 into the side. Niels makes the 3, no problems left on the table.
Europe running out and they are breaking in the next rack.

Shane and Johnny showed up to play today. Lets hope Rodney has also. I like the pairing of Shane and Rodney former world cup champs. Should work out fine for team USA.

Most of these matches will be pretty close to hill hill. You gotta close your opponent out, something the USA has been bad at. Dechaine against Souquet next will be interesting. I think Day 2 is pretty evenly matched, kind of obvious both teams tried to do some matching up on Day 2. USA prob should finish 3-2 ahead today.

Niels breaks, no balls down. the 3 ball is blocking the 1 ball but it is makeable when going rail first.

Shane makes the 1 ball going rail first, leaving Archer a long 2 ball, but the 2 ball is close to the pocket so it should not be a problem and it isn't.

Archer shooting the 4 ball, 5 and 6 ball are hangers. This has to be 6-4 for USA.

Just when you think USA wins this match Shane overruns his position on the 8 ball and leaves Archer partially blocked by the 9 ball
