Earl in the final match means the US could win this without Earl playing a shot.The odds are certainly against the US today, but why on Earth would they want Earl in the final match if it comes down to a decider? He's 0-2 in singles, and 1-3 in doubles.
I'll be happy to eat my own words, but it's not a good pick and makes me wonder how much control JJ actually had over the lineup.
Earl in the second, third or fourth match is, unfortunately, likely to give Europe a point on the board, and allow them to relax while every remaining match for the States would essentially be sudden-death.
