there was a match where ko ran like 11 racks and out on dennis o. when the score was 14-4 dennis in a race to 15. something like that. there may have been a safety in there somewhere. it used to be on youtube but i couldnt find it just now. pretty sickening either way

I remember seeing the same thing..ko was something like 16or 18 at the time. A true assassin.....

I don't think it's on film but Mike Dechaine ran 8 racks against Archer in a tournament. Now that I am thinking about it, it may not have been 10 ball but I'm pretty sure it was.

It was 10 ball and it was 8 and out in a race to 8. He then went on to win the tournament. It was streamed but not sure if there is a video anywhere of it. Def one of the most impressive 10 ball runs,

... Nobody recalls the specifics of the (one of the Ko bros. @CSI?) I referenced earlier?

I went back and looked at the CSI Invitational 10-Ball Championship played two months ago. It was alternate breaks. In the streamed matches on a 9-foot Diamond table, the longest "alternate-break package" (B&R on a player's own successive breaks) was 3.

In the CSI Invitational 8-Ball Championship played a few days later, the longest "alternate-break package" in the streamed matches was 6, by Bustamante. P-Y Ko and Orcollo both had 5's.

From a 2/27/2008 press release on AzB:

"World Junior Champion, the 18 year-old Pin-Yi Ko of Taiwan, cemented his credentials to a Masters spot at the weekend by coming from 14-4 down to beat Dennis Orcollo 15-14 and take the Brunswick Thailand 9-Ball Open."

So Ko won 11 games in a row, but I can't find anything saying it was a B&R 11-pack; so maybe you are correct about a safety in there somewhere.

I'm not sure if it was on film...Scott Frost did 8 during the CSI (Vegas) in 2012. I heard about it and didn't witness it.

I saw a guy run 10 in a row playing the ghost. He had ball in hand after the break though.

LOL that does not mean much
Ever see maestros like Messi and Neymar play during practice/rehearsals. They can do all kinds of beautiful tricks score crazy banana kick goals. Why ? cos no defenders or opposing team to give them high level pressure
Someone once asked Orcullo what his highest B&R package was - he said 12 or 13 during training. Many pros will do high B&R packs in practice/training but under tourney conditions vs live opponent they achieve a fraction of what they do in training
When you are playing an opponent in a tourney or bright level and live audience it is different ball game. The pressure, psychological effects, distractions , presence of a live opponent does affect indirectly or subconsciously :D.

I believe one of the Taiwanese guys had a sick run to win a csi even recently.

Doubt it was a record, but the situation in which it was done screamed 'don't fukc with this'.

No doubt you are referring to JL Chang's 6-pack to beat Orcullo but that was 9-ball.

Most I've seen live in 10-ball was Mike Dechaine' 7-pack in the 2011 US Open 10-ball vs. Johnny Archer, but, as one poster noted, I believe Shane did an 8-pack in a TAR match.

In 9-ball, Feijen ran a 15-pack in practice in about 2002 as he warmed up for a Eurotour event. In a 9-ball match, the most I've seen live is an 8-pack by Souquet.

I've heard Shane mention in an interview that he ran a 14-pack against the 10-ball ghost. Wow!

!

I believe that was a confirmed 8 and out. It's possible johnny broke and didn't make a ball and MD ran out the set from there?

Che Wei Fu run a set against Jeffrey De Luna in 10-ball WC 2008, but it was from Jeffrey's break. That makes it 1+7. The funny thing is, that he fluked a ball in, with a call-shot rule. He rattled a ball which came back from the other side cushion and went in. Jefffrey was steaming.

Yes, the first of Mike's eight racks was off of Johnny's break. Shane broke and ran all eight of his, and on tougher equipment, so his package is, to me, far more impressive.

I think you can definitely say that SVB has had more packages than anyone in recent history, especially on video. How much of that is a result of him having a higher gear, a better break, or the fact that he played in more TAR/gambling events where he has the opportunity to open up?

There's a case for this, but there's also a case for Dechaine's being more impressive as they came right from the start of a match, instead of at the end of the first 40 or so racks where the player has a chance to get in stroke. You're way more likely to put together an 8 pack in the middle of a 50-100 rack match than you are in a straight race to 8.

I don't think all 11 racks are on video. I watched the ones that are on that guy's channel though and damn Ko plays smooth.

What makes it even stronger is his opponent was on the hill at 14-4 race to 15.
How do you think Orcollo felt when Ko sank the winning ball ?
