Where should I move to down south ?

Tampa Bay Florida has alot going on.

I was just down there a month or so ago, and was told that in order to get any action, you had to go an hour or two south to the new place diamonds. I'm sure that there is stuff going on there, I just didn't find it.-Matt ps- Shawn, move to Greenville or Atlanta, there seems to be a shortage of good players at both, lol:thumbup:

Pool may be cool but cost of living, esp home ownership, is high.

I'd look at Austin, San Antonio, TX.

I had a small one bedroom apartment. The rent was 550 a month. I believe the Florida market is a buyers market. The cost of home owners insurance is the only thing out of line. I lived there a while and its about the same as Tennessee. IMHO

Theres lots of poolroom. Lots of tournaments. You can get action but not if your a stranger. You have to work your way into that circle.

Dont come to ATL. There are no Open events around here..:D

Go to California. I need a good start-up TD out there.

You would have the whole region; CA, WA, OR, AZ, NV and NM, I would throw in Utah to but that would encourage you to have 8 or 9 wives and no time to run the events.

A house

I can sell you a house within walking distance of the Marietta Billiard Club
with a 9ft GC 3 in the basement and a shop to build cues

Austin isn't that cheap anymore. It's probably the highest average cost of living in the state and significantly higher than some of the other cities, but I guess it's still cheap compared to some parts of the country. It's a college and tech city. The pool market here is so so I would say.

San Antonio has one of the best housing markets in the country, and the cost of living is very low. It does not have a great pool scene for the size of the city though (8th largest in the nation I think?), but Shawn might do ok selling cues here, especially since he has mentored some with Woody Woodworth who is still held in high regards in the area since he got his start here. The only cue maker currently anywhere in the area only makes low end cues with no points and no inlays, so there is a big opening in the market, although the market is not as big as the city size suggests.

Houston is probably the biggest pool town in Texas, but the downside would be that there are several top pros living here so the housepro market might be saturated? Crime is the worst in this area overall too.

I don't know much about Dallas but from what I know the pool scene is ok, and the population in the area is huge. Not sure what house pro opportunities might be available. CJ Wiley is in the area and owns a couple of rooms, and a couple of other fairly unknown pros also reside here.

Texas does have the Fast Eddies Tour which holds one event per month, all open and large fields, so that is one definite upside to the state.

in the tampa area the cost of living is actually pretty low and housing is pretty cheap as well

San Antonio is a very inexpensive place to live but being a military based town, there is very little money around which means little to no action. A huge bet is this town is a $200 set.

And no one in this town would have a clue what the term "house pro" means.

Sad, but true.

I believe Cliff Joyner was the house pro at Bogie's in Houston for a while. Fairly good action there and it is a players' room. It might be worth a call.

Shawn, I'd love to see you come to Texas and stir things up a little.

Houston would be a good spot. San antone would be another good choice, Houstons got alot of top players and lots of good rooms.

Isn't the Marietta Billiard Club Johnny Archer and Kim Davenport's pool room? I think I heard that was the name of their room.

I heard Jeanette Lee is moving to, and Blackjack has moved to, Orlando. JL said it is for the airport. She's missed too many events from not making connections.
