Moving Pool Table - Across States

I would like to buy one of the pool tables that I see advertised on this site but I was wondering what it would take to have it moved from NY to Southern California?

What about Texas to Southern California?

Are Diamond tables easy to move?

Any idea on what the cost would be???

the table would have to be disassembled and well-packed for shipping. You could use either a trucking company, or a moving company, either way there is a potential for damage and it wont be cheap due to the weight and size of the pieces.

I would say clearly not worth it, unless it was a one-of-a-kind table.

You're in socal, so lots of table choices in your area.

You will also have a set up fee from a table mechanic. Could be as much as 500.00 +. The bed felt may also need replacement, another 300-500. This cost is on top of the move cost.

I want a Diamond table but they dont seem to come up for sale in this area....

He's in Orange County and may have a line on any Diamond's for sale in the area. IIRC I thought Diamond may warehouse some tables in Vegas so either he would know or you could call Diamond directly and ask them. Either way you'll save a ton of $$ getting a table closer to home.

I moved a 4x4x4 foot box from Seattle to Phoenix auto freight, 1100+ pounds, cost about $400. A pool table would be similar, except the size would possibly be larger, so figure about that for shipping. Slate and other pieces would have to be crated for shipment, figure 2-3 hundred. table would need to be dismantled if not already, another hundred or so. Setup at your end, doesn't matter where it came from.
So you would be looking at about $800+ over the cost of the table to get it to your place, then setup and cloth fees after that.

just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary

The problem with shipping a Diamond table is that they cant be put on a pallet to easily, or I should say a standard pallet. The easiest way to move these tables is on a Diamond cart, and the normal carriers will not ship anything if it is not able to be put on a pallet.

Also, those tables are rather unruly when transporting them on the cart unless you have dealt with them before, so be careful who you hire to move it and make sure they have experience not only with pool tables, but with moving Diamond pool tables.

+1 for Donny
He brought my diamond pro am from Nevada to Santa Cruz. Very patient when he arrived. Took his time to be sure things were right.
Or king cobra- he may be going your way already. I have no dealings with the king- but from what I've read here those two are at the top of the list
Thanks Donny!

Donny came by yesterday and did the first half of the job. The table has been moved into my house and we have scheduled the refelt and leveling next week.

Thus far; I have been very happy with his service. He was 10 minutes early meeting me to pickup the table and he has been very accomodating.

Once the job is done; I will write a review of my experience with SD Billiards (Donny) and I will take some pictures of the completed table.
