Mr Brumback

Actually what I want to ask is... Do you have any tips for pocketing balls with english?

Or a special way you practice these shots?

These are the ones that give me the most trouble.

Thanks again in advance.

If I were you I would find or set up some drills that require you to use English,to run them out, and practice them until you get them down.

If I was there with you and watching,I could probably help you, but it would be very hard for me to help without know what and how you are trying to go about it.

Could be your bridge, the way you hold the cue, where you hold the cue,how you cue through the ball, are you cueing up through the ball or down through through the ball, and number of other things of that nature.

I don't know how much time you want to put it to it,or how good you play but try making yourself a goal playing straight pool.Try to run a 50 or 100,and don't quit until you reach your goal.

To me..the best way to practice is with a goal, but you can't quit until you reach it. This also helps with playing under pressure, that is... if you have a "goal" John B.

Sorry but I have no Idea what any of that means. I just play pool:) John B.

If you need to use spin, do you line up the shot immediately with the tip on the side of the ball (drop down in your stance with the cue directly over the side of the ball) or do you start from center and then pivot the tip to the side?

Best answer ever! Stealing this quote ;)

Dude, awesome response. Back when FatRandy( Tulsa-based bar table legend) was playing a lot i asked sort of the same question. He gave me one of his classic sneers and basically told me to do it until i could do it. Sounds like a Nike ad for sure but it's true.

Do you mean "The goal is the teacher"?

Randy did enough dope to raise the Titanic

Randy was a character, that's for sure. We never matched up, but I hung around him when I was a teenager at the Tulsa Billiard Palace. He gave me a great tip on how to cut really thin shots that were frozen to the rail....he could cut a ball paper thin.

Randy did enough dope to raise the Titanic, he was a good influence for me because he showed me what NOT to do, although he was a funny dude.

Is Randy still alive, last I heard he was in prison.
