Thanks very much for the update. Looks like it's a first-class affair there at the Music City Open.

Looking forward to reading all about it some more! Please post back! :p

Thanks for the update. I wish I could have made it this time but it was not in the cards. Post again if you get the chance.

I was there last night but didn't stay long. I have this fear of driving while sleepy and didn't want to risk having an accident. I left about 9pm.

That's a good fear to have. ;)

This year the Midnight Madness was open to 16 players with an entry fee of $500.00

Did the whole $8,000 go to first place?

Hal, you left shortly after I got there. Sorry I missed you. I saw fellow AZ'r Opie a couple of times last night,he was a trooper, still hanging out and playing at around 6 am. The "Midnight Madness" was still winner take all this year.

I saw soom small action Sat. night but from what I heard there was alot more Fri. night. With 16 of the top players in the midnight tournament, action was slow last night.

This was the toughest field at the Music City Open I have seen in several years. Jim puts on a great tournament and it was still standing room only in the main tournament room at 5 am.

I'll try to get soom updates later on in the afternoon. My money would be on Shane Van Boeing, he's playing as good or better than anyone there.

Buddy Hall just won his last set in the loosers bracket 11 to 1 to be in the finals against Gabe Owen. Buddy is hitting them great. Someone said it is his last tournament but that is hard to believe.

Final tally

I don't know why AZ didn't cover this tournament. The roster read like a Who's Who of the top American players. Here's a link to Inside Pool, which did a nice story on the event:

Congrats to Buddy Hall for 2nd place. I think he might have won it if he hadn't been playing for 17 hours straight. At 62, that kind of stamina is long gone...:(
