Allen Hopkins Q-Skill Test

I played 20 racks of it this afternoon. I too thought it would be a piece of cake. It's not for me. The first 10 balls count 1 point each running them in any order. The last 5 have to be run in rotation order (lowest first) and count 2 points each. I think in the beginning I was thinking too much about getting position on the 11 th ball for the start of the rotation. I missed a lot of very easy shots to get out. I think what's holding me back a lot is the opposite of what Vincent said in COM. If I don't play for money I don't shoot my top game. I'll try 20 more racks tomorrow.

SCORES

14,9,8,6,1,7,18,10,,8,7,4,12,8,3,6,14,6,20,12,14=72 =Advanced. Thats more like it thanks Mike.

Did you know that there is an annual AZB tradition of playing Q-Skills and posting your scores on a dedicated sub-forum? The sub-forum is here.

Perhaps the added pressure of the public humiliation and/or bragging rights will restore your focus?

6. Ten racks comprise a session. In one session you can score a maximum of 200 points. The score from FIVE SESSIONS (50 racks) determines your Official Rating. The highest possible Official Rating is a perfect score of 1000 points.

Here is the Rating System:

0-150 - Recreational Player
151-300 - Intermediate Player
301-450 - Advanced Player
451-600- Developing Pro
601-800 - Semi-Pro
801-900 - Pro
901-1000 - Touring Pro

Actually, you're supposed to take your score from 5 sessions... so your rating would be, 92 / 2 (1 Session = 46 avg) * 5 = 230 = Intermediate Player.

When are you guys gonna switch to FARGO?

Wasn't there a weekly competition on one of the forums once involving FARGO? I believe I participated a couple of times but can't for the life of me remember how it all worked.

I think the neat thing about Fargo is that you start playing 2 pointers whenever you feel froggy. This is a better test of your ability to use strategy wisely! A great game / self assessment Mike.

This reporting your scores could be fun and profitable in some cases. If you feel someone is reporting higher scores than they really are shooting, you could call them out to prove it for whatever amount both agree on. Someone might think twice about posting higher scores than they can shoot.

The first one that put up his score (me) can't be called out because my math was wrong and they call me Honest John....want to buy a used car? ;) Johnnyt

I don't see how you guys are arriving at that number. He scored 187 for 20 racks which is two sessions. That's 93.5 per session.

93.5 * 5 = 467.5

I'm not sure I agree with Alan Hopkins ratings though. I play a lot of equal offense which is similar to his q skills and on a 9' table I can usually get to around 100 which according to his list is a developing pro, which I ain't.

Did someone start a thread for AZer's scores? I don't see it. I thought I read it was started. Johnnyt
