My claim to fame

Meee tooo

Sorry but I don't know u and I'v been using them for years, maybe 5 or 6. So enjoy ur fame but keep in mind ... its a very big world out there. They even sell a knock off brand in the dollar stores.

This is a ridiculous reason for starting a thread....but in his defence, the link he gave was from back in '02.

Oh, and did I mention that this is a ridiculous thread?

I'm not sure what possessed TommyT to start this thread to begin with, but I guarantee that he was absolutely the poster who introduced The Magic Eraser to the internet pool playing public.

I didn't realize there was any doubt.

Tommy T... SORRY BUT I"M NOT HECKLING YOU.. YOU just didn't have any effect on ME using this product. And CORNERMAN who are you to presume everything on this site is beyound doubt?? I'm NOT doubting this guy's claim to whomever he told, but I wasn't one of them. I found out for myself. Also melamine, the open cell foam that this is, has been used as an insulation for some 20 years. So anyboby that disagrees is a heckler or a doubter......what a wonderful site. Oh by the way water is wet.. I guess I'm first with this idea.

I highly doubt he was "the first one".

I was using one in Japan back in the early '90s when I was stationed there, before it was even introduced in the USA. Granted, I was using it to clean my car (it won't scratch even clear coat), but I remember seeing pool players over there use them to clean the chalk off their shafts. That was around '92 or so. I actually brought several of them back with me when I returned to the States in '95.

BTW, contrary to what people think, Proctor & Gamble didn't "invent" the Magic Eraser. It was an accidental discovery from an automobile manufacturer, who was using the stuff as insulation. One of the employees spilled something on the floor, and used a piece of whatever the foam is to sop it up, and noticed that it also cleaned the scuff marks off the tile. The rest, as they say, is history.

The reason I started this thread was twofold. The first was for my own self edification:wink: . My life is so lame that I need the approval of strangers to help me get thru the day. The second reason was that I knew this thread would create some interest and I thought this forum was getting a little boring. I've seen lamer threads than this lately.

TommyT........Mr. Magic Eraser:ok:

Did you just go through a hellish divorce or somethin? Lighten up there. Tommy T posted on another site according to his link, back in 2002. If you find another further back than that we will give another person credit.
Until then I recommend a lil rest and pool time. This might ease up on the anxiety you are showing.:D

Man, I tell ya....some people just cant see sarcasm....we really need to lighten up some....this should be a fun place to visit...not get mad because Jo discovered that pipe cleaners that they were better at scratching your colon than a brass boar brush, and you feel that you should be the one awarded with that fame...just boggles my mind what some people argue about on here.....thats my .02

TommyT..I hear ya on the lameness...I think I will just make your day my friend...I am going to give you some green rep...now thay I made your day...go have a Steak dinner on me!

Well I was using the Magic Eraser back in 1889 during the Oklahoma Land rush... I used them to clean the soot out of my lantern.

*this reply was meant to be funny and in no way to be taken seriously so people dont get 2 upset for saying that they were using it to clean the sharpee marks off the furniture that Jesus made for them to try and outdo me*

TommyT....

...thank you for introducing me to Magic Erasers. I bought them to clean cues because I saw your post and now I use them everywhere in the house. I especially like to clean my billiard balls using Aramith cleaner on a Magic Eraser. No need to press hard, they clean right up, even the cue ball. I am forever in your debt.

Sincerely,
Ed

Here's my claim to fame...pool related.

Some pool leagues use some sort of marker to indicated the designated pocket for the 8-ball. Here's why.

1977. Dayton, Ohio. National BCA 8-Ball Championships. I was a referree. Every match had a ref. I watched the shooter closely and he made no indication of where he was playing the 8. He made the 8 and I called a foul. He protested. The tournament directors huddled and decided a physical marker would would erase all conflicts of opinion as to wheather the pocket was "called" or not.

What's your claim to fame?
