My Day at Valley Forge

Evening All,

Just got back from VF and it was a pretty damn cool day. Got to check out some amazing cues by some amazing builders. Watched JL in a couple action games downstairs. Got to meet Dennis Searing. What a damn nice guy. Showed us his new cue he just got done building and DAMNNNNN what a piece of work. The man is a perfectionist to the next level. Name signed in silver and even the damn joint caps lined up perfectly. Nice guy to talk to also.

Anyway.... Just wanted to tell all about my day.

Ciao

Thanks for sharing. Spent a few hours there mid-day with my son and it was a great event, as usual. Got to meet Allison Fisher which was nice for us both.

The vendors had some great products to showcase -- lots of bumping into people -- i.e., it was crowded -- so I hope everyone did well. Dropped a few hundred there myself. Hopkins and crew do a great job -- next year my son may sign up to play as well.

Just got in myself.
Picked up my Diekman conversion. Spent a lot of time with Crown cues. Very nice people. Also spent time with Black Creek, Klein, Barnhart, Nitty and Shurtz. Got to talk to Tascarella and Tim Scruggs. All nice folks.
Wish I could have spent some time drinking with Diekman. The mans a rip.

Only met a few AZers though. Not many folks checked in with Crown Cues.

Sev...I enjoyed meeting you yesterday, however briefly! Sorry I missed meeting tonmo and BarryCuda. tonmo...I was in the booth next to Allison Fisher, with the pool table (Stealth Cues). I've meet several AzBr's, that I haven't met before...thanks to the folks at Crown Cues (Jes Piddlin). Today was very busy, and I hope tomorrow is just like it!

Sev,
Sorry I missed you. You were one of the AZ'ers I was hoping to meet.

Maybe next year?

Thursday was my day...

I got a new bridge head

A 2x4 kickstand case

A set of Aramith Super Pro Balls

A DIAMOND PRO/AM 7' Table with matched light and rack (rosewood). I got the show special tourney used table. The guys at Diamond told me I should come back today to put my name on one. I just can't do it, I'll be frantically working to get my room done enough for the Wednesday delivery. It's all good though, I bought the table from Chad Scharlow, and he offered to select my table for me. If I can't trust the VP of the best table manufacturer on the planet to select a nice table for me, who can I trust. I am just jumping to get this table in and installed. I'll need a shoehorn to get it in, 13' wide isn't ideal but it is what it is. I'll get a couple of shorty cues for those 90 degree on the long rail shots (one for each side of the table) and I should be fine. The other option is hit it with No backswing....58" + 58" + 40" = 156" (13') I have to work with the space I have... and the table will be in daily use as I have a lot to learn and I ain't getting any younger. Olhausen's web site lists 12' 11" as minimum width for a 7' table based on a standard 57" cue.... Who did the math over there???

I did stop in at Crown Jespiddlin wasn't there, but I signed in, Stealth, no Scott Lee, and the friend I was with wasn't really a poolie, just along for the ride. He unfortunately didn't want to hang around, so I had to leave (that was the deal)

Next year I'll come by myself and then I won't have anyone nagging at me to leave (I never thought those words could come out of anyone's mouth at the SBE) etc.

There were a ton of folks I wanted to meet, but more important, was the Diamond quest which has been fulfilled. I can die a happy man.

Now I'm off to give the sheet rock a final sanding, then prime, paint, and get the tile floor down before Wednesday. The electric is roughed in, and I still need to buy the lighting fixtures, but I can work around the table in a worse case senario. It should be about warm enough to work out there.

Hope to meet all of you next yr.

It was a pleasure to meet you as well.
Hanged out with Crown cue gang and discussed a bunch of options that would possibly help them get them back on their feet more quickly. I hope I was of some help to them.

Sev,

Same here.
I was the guy wandering around in a white T-shirt with America blazed across the front.
I think perhaps next year we should all coordinate a bit better. Def fave a second annual sign in at Crown Cues.

Next year I think I will have a hat with Sev embroidered on it. Wont be able to miss that.

We shouldn't be hard to find. We are supposed to be in the same block of booths. Either the same one, or on the end, anyway. For those who found us this time, just look in the same place, next year. Be sure to pick up a program. They have "maps" of all the booths upstairs and downstairs listed and all the vendors, too.

Scott,

It was nice meeting you, and thank you for showing me how to jump. Later that day, I came back and bought from Stealth Cues.

I just received my souvenier of the expo. Wes delivered my 7' ProAm on Wednesday. Just a beautiful playing table, I cannot begin to express the thrill that I feel just knowing I can play on it any time I want.....

If any of you are ever in the neighborhood, you've got an open invite for pool and a few cold ones....

Just seeing this now -- wish I had made the connection! Probably was over-stimulated -- it's a lot to take in... like a kid in a candy store... and my son was like an adult at a pool expo! We both loved it.

Next time I will take more care to make connections -- missed some opportunities this time. Plan to sign my son up for juniors as well.

I had more fun than ever, and I think sky's the limit for Pool if all events can be ran that smoothly. I felt like pool has a chance.

Randy, Scott was indeed giving away free jump lessons. He did such a good job that five of my friends bought jump cues from him, and one then signed up for pool school him.
I spend some time with a friend of yours. From Mcdermott cues. Made your cue. He spent some time with me on my jumping. Nice guy.
