My Experience at the Tornado Open

When I saw that guy with his bare feet on the table/railing or whatever, I was reminded of this scene from "Casino". BTW this is pretty much the ideal way to handle people like that. "I want you to exit this guy off the premises, off his feet and use his head to open the door" (paraphrased):

I can't believe anyone would put their bare feet up in someones face like that. Not just anyones face, but one of the worlds best players, playing a big tournament. Some people just have no class at all! I'm not a guy that usually get bothered easily while at the table, but I have to say that this would make me react. Stinking feet in peoples faces? Someone call Joe Pesci to smack that guy over his inconsiderate head with his own cellphone!

Great post. Seeing those pictures really made me sick. How can anyone attend a pro pool event, and be that respectful? He either has no class, or no brains (or both).

Putting your bare feet up like that in a public facility is rude, nasty, and classless...no matter where you are.

FWIW, the fact that it was at this tournament is irrelevant. SVB and none of the other pros matter to me anymore than Joe Blow who is an APA-2 in the bar league. If you want to look at it as a "big tournament", there were less people there watching it than there were at the elementary school soccer match across the street from me.

Pro pool is a joke today. Some people want to put pro athletes on some sort of pedestal. To me, they are nothing more than somebody who dedicated a lot of time to something. In pro pool's case, it is people without a job who have dedicated a lot of time to something that doesn't pay well.

Great reply. You are right, the only place that guy should be acting like that is in his own home (or in private). It is very classless.

I am considerate of every player in the pool room, not just the pro players.

I tell the idiots in the pool room to behave every Sunday when I go there. There is no etiquette in today's pool world...90% of the people playing are there to socialize.

The guy in the crane lifting heavy objects over people's heads requires more concentration than anybody playing pool, but there seems to be quite a bit of noise usually in the construction areas.

It isn't the "normal" noises that bother people most. It is the "abnormal" noises and distractions...the "sharking".

Noises bother me less than idiots walking around the next table near me. I like lots of distance between me and idiots that pay no attention and bump into you while you are in the process of shooting. If you are at the end of one table, I won't even go to that side of the table until you are completely out of the way and I expect others to do the same.

Where I play some of the idiots will gather at what I call "family reunions" around the table where their friend, or team mate, is playing and they won't budge until you tell the to get the fugg out of the way. Then they will look at you, like you are the problem.

Sadly, that is just the way it is, and has always been (nothing is ever going to change the way people act in the pool rooms, and I am talking about the people that do not take the sport of pool seriously in the least bit, and the people that do not understand anything about good pool etiquette). They are just there to have fun. They do not know anything about decent pool etiquette. Unless you are going to a private club where there are only serious pool players (that understand the meaning of good pool etiquette), then you are just going to have to deal with the types of people that do not understand anything about good pool etiquette.

TO THE OP: That was a really great post. I wish that more people would speak their mind when ever they see a wrong being done. Vivian seems like a very selfish and greedy person (who only cares about herself). I do not know her, so I understand that I should not judge her, but if everything that I have read about her in your post, and a few others that I read on this forum today are true, then I think that she did the players and the fans very wrong. After everything I read about the event, it sounds like it was a nightmare (that would not have been fun to attend). I really hope you have a much better time at future events. I hope that you or anyone else will never have to go through this type of horribly organized event again. The problem is that we live in such a horrible and selfish world. There are too many people that only care about themselves out there. It sounds to me like Vivian wanted to make as much profit as she possibly could off the event, and on top of that, it sounds like her behavior and sportsmanship was very poor. This is really sad for the sport of pool. Too much greed, and not enough caring about the players, and the fans.

What surprises me is that anyone IS surprised how this came out given the individual running it. You expected a classy event from someone who's never been known as classy.

I knew this thread was coming because Chicagoplayer communicated with me privately about her experience at this event. After reading her post, I am also shocked, saddened, ashamed, and disappointed.

I am not sure of the Seminole politics, but isn't O.b. the decision-making entity for Seminole Tribe? I wonder if he knows anything about what transpired.

Having Native American DNA myself, hearing about one of the elders at a vendor booth not receiving any advertising by the pool promoter is extremely disconcerting. Shame on Vivian!

Thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts into print. I know it must have been difficult to choose words to describe your feelings about this pool happening.

Having run small pool tournaments, I do realize how hectic and stressful it can be. There are always fires to put out and players with complaints. You can't satisfy everyone, but if Vivian cannot protect the integrity of a competition of this size, she should not tackle such a large pool event with multiple tournaments.

Too bad you gave "stupid foot man" his 15 minutes of fame by showing his pic. My thought is, he got free passes to the event and is not a pool fan in any shape or form. If I had great seats to watch Shane and other top pros play, I wouldn't be sitting there on my phone.

Wow...womens too..One of the men pro players who had made it all the way down to 9-12 stated they hadn't "decided" what the payouts were in the men's event yet at that stage when he asked either. He didn't even know if he cashed yet.. I don't know about you all, but I've been in a tournament where that happened and its not fun.. I mean what else could you possibly think but somehow your getting screwed... There is absolutely no reason not to post the pay outs before the first round is over! In the tournament i was in they were still counting the money when we asked...and a hour later i'm still in and my friend that was in the money but out of the tourney was told they were still counting the money....lol

I 2nd this, and yes I've met her and played her for money at Fatso's in Tampa. Johnnyt

So that's why they call it the 'foot' side of the table...

He was just trying to help Shane remember.

Shane is a champion....regardless of his surroundings, he never missed a ball by a foot.

....which is quite a feet (sic)

It is these kind of actions that leave people who love the game to foot the bill .... sorry couldn't resist

Honestly though, who the f$%^k does that? Any event and he would be escorted out and rightfully so
