My "fancy" one piece conversion.

I wish someone would post a video of an offset tailstock tapering a butt or butt cap or collar. Cuejo your nominated.

Thanks Tank, Hey Check this out I was thinking of getting one for my lathe also, I think this will give you the ability to taper small length like joints and butt plates. Might work for guys like us who don't have full taper bars.
I think this would have been good for you to taper that joint on your son's cue. Good luck and thanks again. Don't hold your breath waiting for pictures, I will order everything I need before I start. Tanks again Tank..

That's a standard taig part. You can get that from cartertools or Todd for 46 bucks

Yes I would like to see it also

I agree I also would like to see it, I'm not sure what Darcy means by off setting the tail stock. But I'm 100% sure it would work as he knows what he is talking about and dose Beautiful work. Maybe if we sweet talk him he will post a video of off setting the tail stock for tapering joints colors and butt plates for us rookies LOL, Any comments on the Compound slide I mentioned, Would that work for tapering small stuff

Install the collars and buttplates before final taper of the shafts and
butts
Before installing the pin

Thats how I taper my cues is by offsetting the tailstock and running my router the full length. Once I finish my cnc machine I will be able to abandon that method. lol.

The question is "how do you mount/hold the parts in the headstock?". The headstock is designed to hold a part straight, not at some arbitrary angle to the tailstock. Show us a picture of a part held in the headstock that's angled.

Before I got my deluxe I tapered a couple on a mid size. Just use a dead center in the headstock and a live center in the tailstock. Problem solved.
