i had the greatest time of my life at the king of the hill event. i got there early, and kevin gave me a private tour of the green room for the players which included a spread of food, internet access, extremly comfy chairs, and a private massus, pardon my spelling, this was when the players wanted to unwind in between matches. the set was as fine as fine can be, all high class, just like kevin himself. kevin has a way of standing out from the rest. his hollywood good looks and tall 6 foot plus frame, and shining quality suit, make him electric, and when he speaks the room gets excited! his crew members john denny and company were top notch straight off the emmy's and there was no camera angle that was cruddy. from the word go the king of the hill ipt tournament had an aire about it that made it the biggest, highest in it's class, and for those of you who have doubts about kevin's character, he is the straightest shooter in the room! he is as honest as the day is long, and become so from being in jail, this he told to us and i quote "please call any foul on yourself, when i was 20 i went to jail because ethics weren't high on my list" well, i'm here to tell you he is a walking genius who is honest fast thinking and will make pool bigger than all sports put together!!!!!! austin murphy was incredible, not only a child genius, but a magnificent pool player, who can hold his own to anyone of the great 150 ipt. karen corr proved women can play, as well as any man on earth, beating archer and parica, also hoffstader and fisher beat strickland and feijn repectivly. the british are comming and when they do, the ipt will be dominated by them. a young deaf lad named phil harrison plays at a million miles an hour and never misses, and that's just for beginners, once ronnie o'sullivan gets here, the british will reign supreme! there is not one ipt player who is so-so, everyone i saw play was fantastic! i will have a small write up on how i got into the ipt, you can catch that in the january issue of billiards digest. all in all it was the most magnificent tournament in the last 100 years, it was a pleasure watching pros take their time to think out the pattern play. i enjoyed meeting many of you, linda carter, vince goh, collin, the british crew, stefan santl and others, it was incredible, and efren played great to become the "king of the hill" i look foward to the masters, which just so you know will NOT be held as planned dates and venue will be announced within two weeks, so anyway, i had fun, i hope you did as well, look foward to seeing you and being seen at the masters, Bernie Friend New York.
