My First Cue!

A few months ago, I went down and spent a week with a cuemaker, he was the most hospitable person I've had the pleasure of meeting in quite some time. He taught me so much while I was there and yet I feel like I have so much more to learn. While I was down there I got to learn first-hand how to make a cue... By building my own! So for your viewing pleasure.... The First Cue I've ever built! Finished on Nov. Friday the 13th... I apoligize it's not that fancy... To be honest I never thought that the first cue I ever made would be this pretty...

Uncored solid Rosewood upper paired with an old growth Wormy Maple *that had Birdseye and Curly thrown in for good measure* 2 Beautiful Pingy shafts, they make that tink I love!

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Thanks

If you have not guessed it by now Eric Crisp was who I learned from, I could not have chosen better. I have a heck of a lot of respect for him as a person let alone a cuemaker *makes a damn fine cue!* I have to say that Eric is as good of a person as you would ever want to meet. Hell putting up with me for a week is hell enough, let alone trying to teach me how to make cues. I learned so much during my time there. Had a s%&! ton of fun while I was there too. Thank you for all your time, patience and knowledge. I hope to make cues in the future that could even compare to yours. Thanks buddy

Well, I knew I was going to learn about making cues but didn't know I would end up making one... Glad I went though! :D

Thank you for the kind words. The Rosewood is beautiful, the pictures don't even show everything.... :(

I hope I can keep making cues for a long time.

Very nice, congratulations on a fine end product. Cudos to Eric, too. I'd guessed it was him from the first pic, and I'd have bet on it as of the second. Distinctive style & ringwork. For that to show up immediately on a "pj" (a very damned fine pj) is quite complimentary. Best of luck as you progress.

Wow, what an awesome experience to have! Congrats on making a great looking cue! :)

Thank you for the kind words, I think he is a terrific instructor and teacher. I've liked simple cues lately and this one fit the bill perfectly. Plays like a dream too!
