OMG! That is a BEAUTIFUL cue.
Congrats.
It was a long road to this cue!

Yeah, this cue will not be in the case! Player! You're right, I should take a week or two before I make some changes. I've been wrong once or twice in my life. LOL. If I retaper I'll take the shaft I'm least crazy about (gonna be tough). I'm going to leave two shafts untouched. Or maybe as another AZer posted, just have Pete make me another shaft.
Thanks for all the help Fellas!
Monte
Very cool cue, I have hit balls with that cue and it is by far the best playing Tascarella I have hit, including owning a few and hitting a few others. Those windows in the butt are incredible and really add another level to the cue. Sad to see Ralph let it go but it is in a good home once again. As for the shafts, I agree with others and would not alter the originals but rather get something new made from either Pete or another competent cue maker.

You were right! Take my time to get used to the cue. 2nd day and I feel like I have the control of Mizerak! It's so well balanced and smooth that it's so easy to fine tune with english. Still getting used to the follow, but that could be that the tips are harder than I normally play with.Usually, i would suggest taking time to get used to the new cue. I also think it is better to be conservative in making changes. But you are fortunate to have 3 shafts. Are all 3 Tascarellas? Whatever shaft you have changed to 12.15 will be personal. I would not change all 3. If you decide to sell in the future, it will be harder with shafts that are that thin. You know the quality of work you'll get from Pete. How confident are you with the local guy? If the local guy is from North Hollywood, I wouldn't think twice, i.e., I would have Ernie do it. Another option is to have one or two shafts made to your specs. New shafts allow you to specify balance, ferrule length and materials, etc. I had new shafts made for two of my cues and I am really happy I went that route.
Congratulations on the purchase. Like others, I was very impressed when I saw it in the FS section. Very classy. I have too many great cues and could not consider buying more.
Have fun with it. It would be a sin to leave it in a case.

What do you mean you touched my cue! LOL. It's really in good hands. I cherish it already. For what's it's worth, only have Tascarella reduce the shaft if you must....no on else as long the he's still alive and functioning. BUT.....I suggest you don't do that....keep things original ...as is...protect that investment.
Tascarella can make you a matching new shaft (identical collar design) in the size you prefer...or have a cuemaker you regard make you that shaft....but this approach guarantees maximum long term investment opportunity for your cue while the other approach of reducing the shaft guarantees you'll wind up adversely affecting the cue's value by altering it regardless of who performs the work, even Tascarella.
Get the 3rd new shaft and you still wind up with a great cue with perhaps some added value but the main objective is that the cue's original intrinsic value is not compromised and remains protected offerring you the best optimal price whenever the cue might get sold.
That's my advice ......

Unless I read it wrong, the Monte has 3 shafts with this cue. So, taking one down to his preference by a local guy like Ed or Ernie wouldn't be so bad seeing that he would still have 2 std size shafts. If all 3 he has are really nice, personally, I would have another made to my preference and never look back.
Congrats on the nice cue Monte. I almost bought when I first saw it!!
Russ.....
Man, I've been wanting a Tascarella forever and I finally got one! I'm digging it big time. Enjoy the pics.
Is tasc signature hand writing or some kind of print, stamp etc??
Great pick up Monte!
I've never had the inherit pleasure of hitting balls with a tascarella.
From what I hear it is one of the best playing cues in the world.
Enjoy & God bless,
Michael
Thanks for passing on it Russ! I'm really digging the 12.6mm shaft now, so I'm going to forget about a new shaft.
How dare you! Jump with my angel. She doesn't do things like that! LOLOf course I'm sure it plays nice and all but the question is - Can you jump full cue with it? We know that's what you're all about these days.:grin-square:
