Is this a newer cue or one of the older Joe Gold cues? Either way it's very nice and inlaid Cogs like yours are getting harder to find. I owned one a few years ago and I hate that I let it go......
It's new. I love it. Every one that has hit a ball with it has been amazed at how it plays . I'm very happy.
yep. great cue.... Joe's work is flawless...
what is different between the newer ones and the older ones.

The color of G10.
The old is green, the new black.
Someone tells that the old cues hit better...
I've try many cogs, some are better than others.
It seems that the more "upscale" and has the hit more solid, maybe Joe chooses the wood according to the value that will give the cue: the shot then shows it.
However, even the worst cog that I have tried, it is always a good cue
The only difference in the cues is the time they were built and the pin color. They're all built to the same standards they've always been using ONLY perfect materials or the cue gets cut in half and will not leave the shop.. Saw him do that to 3 cues in the last 2 weeks even in front of customers and their hearts sunk... If it ain't right, it ain't right... As far as the playability of upscale vs. plain well I was playing with Joe 2 weeks ago and he told me I could play with a plain ebony with maple handle cue that he was finishing. Let's just say when I was done, he wasn't allowed to put that cue for sale... I pick it up tomorrow. One of if not the best hitting cues I have ever played with.
I am betting that Gold feller took you over to Marie's and played you on the table he paid to have rebuilt with the balls he has stashed behind the counter.. He's a hustler, you better watch out! I have one of those plain ol Cogs myself with three shafts, ebony forearm and butt with a birds eye maple handle and the new ring work. .Sweet!
