it looks like a 4 point cue? very odd, imo.
i think the result will look very sparse at the nose. the ivory points will be very dominant simply because there's not much going on up there, and the snakewood/rosewood combo looks so much alike, the ivory will pop out.
the rosewood/snakewood combo in itself is great. i would've done 8 points with the ivory being the smaller in between points...that way you cut back their tendency to overwhelm.
if it's a 6 pt'er,,,that's better than a 4.,,,but even at that those ivories sure pop out!
the butt is inconsistant with the top. the ivory(white) veneer is thin, while in the butt the ivory frame around the ellipse is thick = it looks off balance to me. in this case, the cue would be better balanced with the same thickness veneers in the nose,,,and in this way you'd kill two birds with one stone because making the veneers thicker would also balance off the ivory points and make them less dominating.
i also think it might be wise to inlay the spears or ellipses in the nose because, really, other than the wood choices, the nose and butt look totally different. it's a traditional and cliched solution, but it does fix some design inconsistancies.
ps...why is he giving you two different ring designs in the butt?????
