My NEW Cue...

My NEW Cue... I wrote to Guido Orlandi...;

My New Cue is fabulous.... I'm disappointed that it took me 50 years to get such a precision instrument in my hands. Now that I can't see & barely get around the table on my feeble legs, I get a Pool Cue that works automatically.

It's such a feeling to stroke a cue ball & watch it maneuver an object ball to it's prescribed location, in the bottom of a pocket. The feeling of the cork grip is similar to something that is wrapped in velvet. The balance of the cue makes this Cue feel even lighter than it really is.

Guido Orlandi has outdone himself in the development of this great Cue. Many a player will soon learn of this extraordinary feat & be at Mr Orlandi's door, hoping to be one of the few to own one of Guido Orlandi's Cues, that rivals a Stradivarius Violin in the Music Business.

Thanks Guido, be prepared for the march of players to your door.

To my friends on AZB, this new cue is a gift from the Pool Gods, everyone that touches this cue loves it & wants to own it. Guido Orlandi has created the most fantastic playing cue I've ever had.

I had a great cue, I thought, & it was manufactured by a great company. I've won more than a hundred Tournaments & one State Doubles Tournament with that Cue, but sadly it will be sold, because the Guido Orlandi Cue hits the balls much better.

Buddy Hall likes his cues too.

I have never met the guy, but they all raved about his cues.

Ken

Here are some pictures of a great cue. There are no gaudy embellishments. Guido Orlandi just built a simple jointed cue that feels & plays wonderful.

I used to own a Guido Cue. Dated '99. Hits like a champ. I regret selling it.

I've known Guido 25+ yrs. He is a stand-up, no nonsense guy who knows
his trade inside/out. We have talked for hours on end about Cues, Makers,
Billiards History, you name it. I have an old Titleist Conversion of his that
will stand "tip to tip" with any cue for consistent playability and quality.

He doesn't crank them out like the average Cuemaker, so be prepared
for a reasonable wait. However, your new Orlandi Cue will be worth your patience.

NOTE: You won't be seeing his name in the DeadBeat Cuemaker Section.

Guido Orlandi has developed a completely new JOINT for his new cues & it is the Bee's Knee's. It is a different design than we are used to & the report you get from the cue is a feeling that for some is indescribable.

Another Cue maker has tried this idea, but let the patent go. Guido took the idea to a refined degree & then applied for a patent of the new design. Guido had a warm introductory welcome of this cue, at the IOWA STATE Pool Tournament in April. Guido has a sold a dozen of the great cues... lots of satisfied customers in short period of time.

that cork is badass

Guido has been putting CORK wraps on cues for a long time. I have to admit that I poo-pooed cork wraps a little bit, but when my new cue showed up wrapped with cork, I took it directly to the table. My mind was changed in less than a few minutes. I'm a corker now... (slang : a. something or somebody striking or outstanding)

Nice cue, that is exactly how a cue should look. My 3 favorite cues are Titlists, Titlist conversions, and Titlist copies.

Can you tell us more about this new joint design? And who was the cue maker that tried the related idea before that?

Simple elegance in this cue! Really like it.
Can you tell us what the pin is? Thank you for showing.

Like I said, Guido prefers to make a simple cue, that has super functionality. Kinda like a GrandAm Corvette with one seat in it & no A/C....

I think he has one (1) Tiltleist Conversion Cue with a genuine Alligator grip for sale. It is Beautiful.

Just bought an Orlandi

Well I have to put my two cents in here. About two weeks ago Dick Abbott asked me if I would test a new cue at home by playing with it everyday for a week. I agreed to do the test. I have many cues and I play with them all at different times based on my feelings that day. Two of my favorite playing cues are my radial pin Bill Stroud and my custom made mostly ivory Star City Cue by All Link. I love the hit of the JW. It feels like a tank driving through a marshmallow. The feedback is just wonderful and the hit and balance is about as good as it gets. My All Link cue is about the same but it is too gorgeous to take out of my home. When I play out I play with a special edition Predator and a Z2 shaft because I absolutely rely on the low deflection shaft. OK, sometimes I play with an OB shaft and I like it too. Until now, I have reconciled to the fact; I will never get a solid maple shaft that has the hit of my JW and also has a super low deflection at the same time. I remember Mika telling me that he tried to play with a Predator and just couldn't deal with not having that incredible hit of a solid maple shaft. Personally, I would give up the good hit any day for a low deflection shaft ... but in the back of my mind I always dreamed of someone who could defy the laws of physics and come up with a solid maple shaft with low deflection. Of course that is just a dream ... errr well ... until now. Guido did it folks. He really did make a cue that hits like my JW and has the deflection of a Predator or OB.

After playing with the Orlandi for a solid week I just couldn't wait to get to the practice table and hit balls. I was hooked ... so I bought the cue. I just love it. Now I can have my cake and eat it to :)

I can't wait to show CW and Mika this cue. I think Mika will love it. Charlie on the other hand can play with anything. Just take a look at his playing shaft. It looks like a beaver was snoring at it :) Even though, I know he will be dumfounded on how well this cue hits.

Over and out.

Phil

Does he make any 60 inch cues? Thanks

Yes he does. He can make any length with his Stretcher Machine. Ha Ha Ha

Guido lives in the northern part of Michigan where the good wood might be in his back yard. He has a supply of old growth wood & even some of that "Lake Wood" too.

Me & Dick Abbott are fans of Guido Orlandi... a great cue maker. He'll send you a cue to try, if you wanna go that way...

The Layani Cue Company started off with this design, it seems they targeted the Carom Cue side of the house.

Guido & I redesigned the joint & away he goes.... It is very nice

Most joints in industry are conical joints, they are called Morse taper connections. They align the centroid of the shafts for concentricty.
