i just finished this one as well,to keep.it is Goncalo into straight grain Maple.i used a very stiff taper and put a special tip/ferrule combo,it is very hard, harder than G-10.the best part is it doesn't make that ping or tink sound that G-10 does.it sounds solid and quiet like leather, and holds chalk better.it took 15 minutes to shape the tip b/c the razor blade can't cut the stuff very well.it jumps very high and will spin whitey b/c it holds chalk so well.this material is the best i have ever tried on a j/b and i am very content with it.it is harder than G-10 as much as G-10 is harder than Phenolic.it has aluminum(.308 minor)3/8-10 pins and the one at the jump joint is a quick release that doesn't need an insert, very solid.
