Too many flowers...looks a little gay

In Feb 2007, to honor John Wayne`s legacy, Wayne Enterprises commissioned a highly tooled saddle to commemorate his 100th anniversary. The John Wayne Commemorative Saddle was made to honor the man who loved his country and strove to epitomize American ideals.

............Yep, you guessed it! Similar tooling on the saddle to this case by Mr. Melton. I found another reason why I like the case! Thanks! :happydance::dance::kma:

No doubt Erich. Rusty's work has turned a corner this past year and gone from nice to amazing. He improves with each case and it's a joy to watch.

You can bet I am taking notes. :-)

Great case Will!

Nice job Rusty.

John how are you doing, I hope all is well for you, your wife and the little one. John I can not agree with your comments more, but it is always nice to hear comments like that made by one of the Top guy's in the Craft. I have had personal faith in Rusty's work from the beginning, I am glad that he is now being recognized by others for the great work he is doing.

Take care

Well I mean it for sure. You know I took some offense last year when you said Rusty was as good as Chas Clements. He wasn't then, not quite, but Rusty has put in the work this year and each case is not only better and better in the tooling and layout but also structurally sound.

To me the turning point was when he decided to do the blind seam. To me that right there shows intense dedication to cue case making BECAUSE it is so damned hard to do on a cue case when doing it by hand.

But beyond that, it's the little things that he is doing, (sorry to talk about you as if you're not here Rusty), the edging, Doing the lids as a closed loop to give the case a nicer profile, planning the tooling to flow around the handles......etc.......not to mention that I am super impressed by the fact that he has adopted padded interiors which you know I find to be very important to cue protection.

Now, I would be comfortable in joining you to put Rusty's cases in Chas' category.

So, to me Rusty Melton has definitely "arrived" as they say in New York.
