my new Schmelke cue

I like the shaft.
But I can't see the lamination's.
It looks just like a regular shaft.
On flat-laminated shafts its harder to see the plies. I've heard good things about this shaft. Might have to try one. You really got a nice cue for a helluva price.

I got the low deflection shaft and ultra skin tip at no charge.
$230 what a deal.
And the fit and finish is perfect.

If I expected a normal shaft and got something different I wouldn't call it an upgrade, I'd call it a screw up. Honestly makes me question Schmelke practices.

Yes.
I am adjusting to just a little less deflection.
Not much but it's there.

How can that be? Flat lams are heavier.
More than a decade ago, I got a hold of a bunch of flat lams from the old Dufferin factory.
Never used them. Sold them all.
Too unattracrive and low tone.
Didn't even use them for coring dowel.

Did you look at the shaft?

The linked shaft shows a longer ferrule then I got.
I'm a little confused as to what I got.
But it plays OK.

Seen them.
With 1 inch long Juma, it also will have heavy end.
Non-laminated shaft with shorter ferrule all day for me.
No glue to hold the laminates and have smoother finish.
But, to each his own.

I know next to nothing about low deflection shafts
So help me out here.
Is this a bad design?
It seems to play well.

I had them make me a cue once and asked for an upgrade...a leather wrap.

When they finished the cue and sent the invoice, they noticed they forgot to charge me. When I offered to pay, they said don't worry about it.

You sure they didn't send you this?
