My old Ginas

Scott,

I'd be stoked too!
You have a great find there from a world re-noun Craftsman.
A microscopic needle in a haystack.
Thank you for sharing.

Splendid old cues....congrats !!

That other old Gina monster is gonna look real nice along side them.

Great cues

I find first generation Gina cues are really interesting as Ernie was a true innovator with distinct style. Congratulations. I love them.

That's fantastic. Good seeing you this weekend.

Sent these pics to Ernie to find out more about the top cue. His response is greatly appreciated and exciting for me as a collector/admirer of his work. All three have the original finish.

His response:

Hi Scott
That cue was the first 4 point cue with veneers that I made. I made it for a machinist by the name of Castillo. This guy helped me make some of the early fixtures that I used to make the cues.
Regards
Ernie G.

That top cue is awesome as is the floating points cue he just did. Those are 2 stunners of first generation Ginas.

The top cue is stunning, love the "Old School" look, wow!

Now I know why I like my Gina/Spain, Kevin....

Done.....get outta here. If I knew he'd turn it around so quickly I'd have bought it.

Can't wait to see how it turned out.

He caught Ernie at the right time. Ernie finishes his new cue batch, then does his repairs, reconstructs and refinishes all at the same time. He was done with them and getting ready to move on to his 50th Anniversary cues (which he has started a bit) when the floating points came in. That cue is stunning and unique.

The other side of that coin was I gave him a pair of super old Martins to just put a cork wrap on (the original were just falling off) and I waited until he started and finished a batch and all his repairs before he did mine. Timing is everything.

I am going to sock that one away like I did these three! My kids will appreciate it when I am long gone (I hope). My boys will get my cues, my girls will get jewelry. All are ok with it!

Sean,
I am glad you guys passed, but I understand you made a score on the other cue he had!

ginas

Amazing cues! The first veneer cue is stunning. Hard to believe he was doing work so good that long ago at such a young age! I can't wait to see the one you sent him. Great addition to a fine collection!
