My Plan For This Year, Whats Your Plan????

my plan for next 12 months is...

1) to lose 10 kg of weight + improve overall fitness
2) to improve my position play, especially stun shots and one rail positions, fine tune my draw shots and speed control
3) to continue working on my break shot (control)
4) to make 100ball run in straight pool again
5) last 32 finish at european championships

Well, this is my plan... :)

I hadn't thought about plans other than pool plans but I do have a couple of those.

1. I want to erase my credit card debt this next year.

2. I've lost 25 pounds in the last 3 months and want to lose another 50 in the next year. Target weight 170.

3. Sell my hot rod pickup truck and get a used Corvette.

4. Maybe expand my counseling business, hire another counselor and take more time off. (more time off means go to some more tournaments! :groucho: )

That sucks! Thanks for the info. Any suggestions on losing weight besides eating less? Looks like you did a great job getting your weight down.

I lost 39 pounds in around two months by
-cut out sodas all together
-no red meat
-work out 4-5 days a week with 45-60 mins of cardio per day
-have a cheat day once a week where you eat what you want but still stay away from sodas

Thats some of the things I did to lose weight and it really helped my game as well as my self confidence

Hope this helps

I sold my business recently and now have time to focus on some of the more important things in life. Wih GOD willing here is my plan. I will spend more quality time with my family. I will play pool every day. I will become more consistent and play a little faster. I will play more with quality/better players. I am on a Valley A league and hope to win the state tourney with them. I will win the B playeryr state tounament as a single. I will run 70+ balls in straight pool easily surpassing my current 43 ball run goal. I will repeat by winning my straight pool league this year with my handicap becoming deeply negative, it is currently 0. I will match up and do some gambling. I will weigh 190 or less. I will formulate a new business plan and do some consulting in the meantime. I have some other plans but thats it for now.

My weights not to bad. Just under 180, but I have 5 0r 6 pounds of blubber around the middle that has to go, even if I have too join a gym and hire a personal trainer. I need to cut my Martini consumption by 50%. Not for sobriety but for calories. Anyone know of a good low calorie gin?

AND!!!, I'm going to break 30.

Now that my children are out of High School (second time around) I'm going to get in shape and practice more pool. At 55 years old I can't afford to weigh 250 pounds anymore and I now know it has a direct effect on my pool game.

So my goal is to lose weight and play in more Open tournaments in the Pacific NW. I might even play in the Reno Open if I get a chance in the next year. I figure I have about a 7 year window where I can still play competitively and see how good I can get.

It not about eating less, its about eating right... and that CAN be good foods too. Ive been on a diet/workout plan now for 39 days, lost 23lbs... much more to go!

On top of everything, I think you have to be obsessed with losing weight for it to have a chance to work. If you are, it not too hard. Just focus your mind.

Eat carbs that are only whole wheat.. and try to stay away from them in the evenings and nights. Eat more protein than anything.. grilled chicken, fish, turkey breast. Sugars are bad. Fruit is good, but only small portions once in a while. Its loaded with sugar. Eat a larger breakfast than you do dinner. Eggwhites & oatmeal are great for breakfast. Throw some non-fat cheese on the eggs and a little garlic powder. It will taste great. Try to keep your portions of food around 6oz. Oh and work out a little everyday. Run around the block, jumping jacks, situps/pushups, get some dumbbells, whatever... Just do something more than what youre doing now on top of eating right. If you stick with it, you will see a change quickly. Ive NEVER been able to lose weight and thanks to some advice from Donny Mills and a strong desire for change, Im on my way to a new wardrobe!

Thank you for the advise. My wife and I are changing our eating habits and becoming more concerned about how and when we eat. I sit behind a desk all day and when I get home I'm am tired.

The ironic thing about me being tired is because I'm overweight by about 60 - 80 pounds and carrying all this extra weight at 55 years old is wearing me out during the day. I'm sure if I can walk a couple of miles each evening and do some LIGHT weightlifting it will take the weight off and I won't be tired after work. I just need to motivate myself to do it.

When you change what you eat, it will change your energy level. I also sit at a desk all day, 10-12 hours a day. When you eat good carbs and proteins and cut out sugars, you will have more energy.

Good luck!

I cut out the daily burger/fries. I cut out the butter. I cut out the Pepsi. I'm eating frozen meals and they are very tasty. I'll do some exercise after I get below 200 lbs. I'll probably not do any more than walk 5 to 10 miles. At 66 I'm not too conerned about muscles.. just cardiovascular.
