I know my one small voice here is maybe the only voice sticking up for the IPT these days. (Bert+Ernie) Bernie has mutinied and there is a loud crowd yelling about all the injustices, while there is a silent faction that is still holding out hope, i.e., the rest of the players.
Dreamer, delusional, stupid, whatever you want to call me, there are only 2 negative facts about the IPT...there were definite communication and cash flow problems. Every negative thing about the IPT since Reno has hinged on that...cancellations/postponements, nonpayment, and the dreadful communication to the players.
Because of the inability to pay in a timely manner, the IPT has taken much deserved criticism. I am not denying that the criticism is certainly deserved. And the way that the whole issue was addressed to the players was terrible. The IPT needs to wake up and see that we can take disappointment and just to tell us the truth, not string us along.
But what would it take to make it right again? And no more KT bashing...let's assume he realistically stays at the helm and is able to get funding and pay the players and carry on for next season. In other words, status quo before the non-payment issue hit.
Here is what I predict for the future of the IPT:
1. We will start getting FULL payments starting this week.
2. The Chicago event (The Masters) will be rescheduled at some other time, possibly early next year, but not to conflict with Windy City or Derby City.
3. The Qualifier will be held at the end of the Master's tournament, as suggested on another thread.
4. The KOH will be held shortly after that.
5. A method of payment (after every round?) will be instituted that guarantees timely payment.
6. Bernie has disqualified himself as an IPT member and will be paid for past performance in Reno but will not be invited back for the Masters.
7. More unprecedented pool coverage on TV and over the internet.
8. Possibly a scaled-down 2007/2008 tour with more realistic goals/funding.
And what about IF there really is an IPO that comes out of this early next year that brings in a huge influx of money?
Well, it's me against the masses and most of you will say I am just as delusional as Bernie, lol, but I ask you not to make this personal. I know what everyone's feelings on the IPT are, TRUST ME!
I am just setting up a hypothetical scenario, which could well pan out to be true. What would you think then? I know that from here on out, the IPT would need to bend over backwards to make things right again, and go twice as far to gain our trust again, if ever.
PS - I will eat as much crow as you give me. Tastes like chicken, doesn't it?
