My Very Own Fancy DW Case!!!

Hi all,

As you might know, I've been helping a friend get started in the case making business. He really turns out some pretty work. I've wanted to own one myself, since the first one I laid eyes on, but the higher end cases were just out of my reach for my personal collection. I figured I'd start with a middle of the road model and eventually save my nickels and dimes for a big one.

I had one recently that I almost kept, but it was just the ticket for one of our forum members, and since I'm trying to get some exposure for the maker and the member is a great guy, I let it go down the road.

I stopped in to check on Del, the maker, yesterday. He darkened up a stain on one of his cases I have for sale, and we talked about some other projects. When we walked out into the living room, his wife said I should take a look at a case that Del made for himself. It was gorgeous, and while I was looking it over, she said to look at the inside of the lid. I was admiring the heavy leather (almost 1/4" thick) and suddenly, I noticed the inscription under the lid (see picture). He had made the case for me as a gift! I am still in shock. This case is as fancy as it gets and the hours he spent on it were absolutely unbelievable. I consider myself blessed to have a friend like Del. This case will stay in my collection forever, but I wanted to share pictures of it with you all.

Thanks for looking!

Steve

Thanks, Si! We still need to get one of these rascals over to the Diamond Collection!

Thanks to all for your comments! I took it to the poolroom last night and got some great feedback, too. I wish everyone could see one of these cases in person, as my pictures don't do them any kind of justice. Del is a good friend and he makes a great case...

Hunter, your case have all the elements tasks of a great leathercraftman- from the lacing, carving, stamping, dye, forming, and designing. I truly Know that Shock and Blessing feeling- as when Dieckman sent me a Masse Cue that I was unawared of. A feeling Beyond words!!!!!!!!!!!
