Eddie sounds like a nice guy and sounds very knowledgable. Ive never met him or played with any of his cues. In fact that pic is the first Wheat cue ive ever saw. Im just curious what his prices look like.

Eddie's cues start at $350 -

Seriously, Give the guy a call. You won't find a better price for what Eddie has to offer, trust me!

Glad you had a good visit David. Hope the cue turns out well and that Eddie can stop being such a over bearing person in his posts. I'm sure your post will draw a lot of orders for him as you are very well respected.

Your thread is a breath of fresh air. Nice to see someone stand up and speak the truth. In my limited dealings with Eddie, he's gone out of his way to be helpful. You sir, are a gentleman.:)

Good post, David.

Nice review ...

I called Eddie earlier this week... The guy was awesome to talk to and super friendly ... His prices seem reasonable as they start at 350.00 and go up from there depending on what you want ... I think we talked for about a hour maybe I should say he talked and I listened the guy was so excited and passionate about his cues... He had me sold and I believe he would die to build a great cue for any of his customers... I definatly plan to have him make one at some date in the future ... I was hoping it was going to be pretty soon but think I'm going to wait as I have a few customs being built and want to see the results ... I'm also pretty sold on what Leon Sly and Jimmy Lee are doing right now...

Eddie is not far out of my plans though and I know the time will come when he makes me a cue if he is still willing,, In spite of what he refers to as my expensive tastes in wood ...lol ... The guy was really impressive to talk to , very imformative and super nice ... It is good to see Black Jack do such a good honest review on Eddie Wheat... I don't know what all the fuss was on the boards and my first pm to Eddie was something like "I don't know what all that fuss is on the boards but it don't matter to me ... I've seen pics of your work and would like you to do a cue for me ..." After talking to the guy I was blown away by our conversation ... I can't understand why anyone would have anything negative to say about the guy unless they are scared of him and his work... I know this much I took the time to talk to him and I am glad that I did because the guy is just awesome to talk too... And really seems to know his stuff , believe all the negative BS if you want but if you don't take the chance to at least call him and talk to him you are the one missing out ...

Kind of funny this board can be kind of viscious sometimes and I don't understand it at all ... I also found out the same thing about Kevin Varney I read all the negative posts and to a point I could understand the concern from people wondering where thier cues were... But some of the posts seemed really out of line ... I have recently got to talk to Mr Varney via PM and email and posts on the board ... The guy came across as super nice also, and I don't have anything bad to say about him in fact all I can say about Mr Varney is good things... It seems at times when someone is down or having a rough time some here like nothing better then to pile on and kick the heck out of them hoping they don't get back up.... Like they want to see you fail.... Sorry Blackjack I don't want to hyjack your thread but people if all you want to believe is what you see or hear then you may miss out on something really good ... Take the effort to find out for yourself and form your own opinion talk to the person in question it does'nt cost a thing to hold a conversation with someone ... nothing at all... And you may benefit from it ...

Ever since I started reading this forum the Eddie Wheat battles has always intrigued me. I never met the guy so I hold no judgment, but reading all those posts did make me wonder. I'm glad you took the time to visit him in person and find out what he is all about. Since I live about 3000+ miles away, I can't meet any of the cue makers in person, so hearing peoples reviews about them is important too me. I think I'd have no problem giving Eddie Wheat some business in the future when I'm ready. He does seem to have great prices so I'm willing to give his cues a try.

All I'm going to say on this is, first, I'm glad you had a nice visit with Eddie, secondly, it's been questioned as to how all the Anti- Eddie stuff came about. It has nothing to do with envy, as some stated. Unfortunatly, the posts that you should all read to better understand things better, have all been closed and removed due to reasons known to anyone who read them. As with anything, there are always 3 sides to a story, his side, the other side, and the truth. For all of us who saw ALL the sides playing out, and have the saved emails of postings, PMs from Eddie, etc, the story is easy to figure out. Not trying to start anything, but before he is nominated for sainthood, there may be some things that should be brought out. I'm sure he is a very enthusiastic, confident, competent, builder, and a very likeable guy on the surface, but he has some questionable marketing techniques to say the least, and is Not an innocent victim in all of this. I grew up in a family business where your work was your reputation, you didn't get it by knocking down other's work, especially if you've never even seen the other's work. He came on here and stated in a post that" all cuemakers with high prices and a waiting list are just hosing the naive public" and then stated "he was different and could deliver better, and faster, and cheaper while the others are out fishing and living on your deposits while you wait, and all the waiting and cost was just hype to make you pay more" All this happened BEFORE anyone 'attacked' him or questioned him. And he continued his attacks on anyone that stood up for the established cuebuilders on this site. He threw the first stones, intentionally, and from there it all went to hell quickly.
Such statements and actions that he has done would anger and irritate most hard working people involved with this industry. If any one of you have ever tried to build a cue, then you know the hard work, money, and quite often, literaly, blood that these cuebuilders put into their profession, just for someone to come along and bash them just so that person can sell a couple of cues and get his name out there. I speak from knowledge, as Eddie stated that in a pm to me when I questioned his approach, His whole strategy was to make the others look bad, so people would look to him with sympathy, and buy from him instead, He actually watched the board for about a year to figure out how to upset, and attack the most prominented builers on the forum. He's a firm believer in the old saying of 'bad publicity is still better than no publicity'
He may make an affordable cue and it will play/look great, but he is not someone I would do buisness with, maybe I'm to old-fashioned about it, but I believe one should have pride in how they've aquired their reputation, and so should their customers.
I know that this will rub some the wrong way, but hey, That's life. I do not hate, nor wish any ill on him, I just feel that people should know how all the 'Anti-Eddie' came about.

Dave38, there is no shortage of blame to be shared.

Long before Eddie got here, people were run off for whatever reason by other's in our "ask the cue maker" forum.

Outside of the NPR section, I've put more flames out there than anywhere.....and you can't hang all that on him.

Dave went to Eddies and is giving a first person review of the trip. For all I can see, there in no call for anyone to dredge up negativity here.

I hope these reminders continue only on a positive trend, as I have worked hard to get the forums back to where civility is the norm, not the exception.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, I apologize if I was out of line, I wasn't trying to start it all back up again, I was only trying to show the otherside in response to a section in "THE KING's post about the whole Anti- Eddie issues being envy based, etc.
My apologies also go to Blackjack, sorry for hijacking your thread.

Dave38

I completely understand your position and I have no problems with your post at all. In every situation and in every thread, we will all have different points of view, and I respect yours and understand completely why you would have that point of view.

I've been on the forums for many years and I have come to realize that not everybody is going to get along, not everybody is going to like each other. What we all have in common is our passion for the game. Myself, I am learning to place principles and passion for the game before the personalities. I don't have to like everyone or every post, but I do have a responsibility (as a member of this community) to respect the opinions of others - even if those opinions are the direct opposite of my experience.

I just wanted to post an honest review, and before I hit the "SUBMIT" button, I fully expected that there would be people that would not agree with my review - and I can live with that.

Take care.

I wanted to take the time to thank Dave "Blackjack" and Tony "Remy" for coming out to my shop to check out the operation and what I had to offer in the cuemaking world...

After a couple of hours of intensely energized conversation "Blackjack" commented that he was very impressed with my knowledge and custom cuemaking ability and that I focused primarily on the hit and playability aspects of it that he said he was going to write a nice honest review on AZ for everyone else to see and that should clear up the air of any misconceptions and negative publicity that were floating around....

I am an honest and straight shooter with my cuemaking and although I have strong convictions about my unique style of construction methods I can come off very brash when undergoing enemy fire !

I cater to the playability and hit of what the customer needs and wants primarily... the asthetics take a backseat due to the importance of this directly effecting the players overall performance..... even though I build the cues exactly how the customer desires I feel the performance and comfort is the main focal point !

I sincerely hope this buries most of the controversy and past quarrels and we can finally get past this drama...

Thanks again for all your support !

DAve with all due respect....

And I'm not trying to start anything, but I want to point out a downright lie !

I never said I wanted sympathy from anyone nor did I say I was going out of my way trying to make others look bad... "they do that all on their own !!!"

I simply pointed out obvious things wrong with this market and capitalized on an opening in the market... my advertising methods are100% legal becasue I never mentioned anyone specifically... I tell it like it is !

I don't mind my words being thrown back in my face but when I do NOT make statements like that I would appreciate it if you would NOT lie or put words in my mouth !

The last thing I need is sympathy... anyone who has read my posts know that I can fend for myself pretty friggin well and do NOT need support to sell cues ! you are just pissed off becasue I'm teliing it like it is and it hurts your feelings becasue I indirectly bashed your idol cuemakers for their over-priced art !

My work speaks for itself and my prices are a breath of fresh air to the stuffy circle of elite vetran cuemakers.....

Just becasue someone said something nice and honest about me does not give you the right to lie about any statements I supposedly said.. just to counter their efforts !

YOU SIR ARE COMPLETELY OUT-OF-LINE !!! especially since you aren't even a professional cuemaker and have zero business getting involved in my advertising methods to begin with.. SO IT DOES NOT EVEN APPLY TO YOU !!!! you took it upon yourself to jump in and defend your idols.....

I see that it took only 22 days to come up with your come back. you've been on repeatedly since I posted, and you have even replied on this thread since and waited this long to reply? Why dig this up unless to start something????? Well Ed I won't give you the satisfaction of a fight, it's not fair to the OP who tried to do a good thing for you, don't turn it into another thread that Mr Wilson has to lock due to your own ego running away again. You know what you've said and done, and so do the rest of us that have paid attention to your statements and pm's. If any misquotes happened, it wasn't on purpose, but where as accurate as possible. If you want to continue, then take it to pm's, otherwise S.T.F.U.!!!

Actually Per your request I removed you from the ignore list to only find yet another negative comment from you !!!

You say you aren't slandering me... we'll unless you are mentally handicapped this is classified as slandering !!!

You have ZERO place even responding to anything I post regarding my company and my sales methods unless DIRECTLY aimed at you !

So please refrain from taking inaccurate shots at me... your hatred is lame and unwarranted and as a word of advice.. you should worry about sticking up for yourself and not putting your nose in places it don't belong and trying to earn a gold star and free cuemaking instruction and insight for jumping up at other cuemakers defense for personal gain as result of indirect advertising methods that once again has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with you on a professional level !!!

Besides all your negative effort was motivated primairly due to a positive honest review by a creditable pro player and you couldn't let that go... you just had to put your childish 2 cents in just to drudge up more crap just to look good to your idols /mentors on an issue that we all thought and were hoping was behind us !!!

Just let it go !

I don't personally have a problem with you.... but we are all a little tired of the negativity, as I said before I play the neutral position and will respond as neccessary... and that does not make me evil or good it just makes me versitile !

I'm calling a truce with you just as I have with several others... it's all up to you !!!

AZ forums are about helping others and getting help as well as promoting custom cues, etc.. I personally would like to focus on the present and the future and leave the past where it belongs !!!

First, Why do you keep editting your posts, you keep changing and deleting words, is this so the people reading it can't see your original reponse??? If your going to do that, then please correct your spelling while your at it.
Secondly, I asked for pm's to continue this, as it's not fair to the OP, please respect him. There is no need to grandstand this at his expense. You know how to pm me, you've done it before.
