Why create another post after the other one was rife with name calling and animosity??????

I am trying to be nice pescadoman so if you don't mind plz don't post in this thread. You are the reason it got deleted last time. Thanks Dave

Your wife is the reason the thread got deleted, not me. I am still not sure why she was allowed to start berating members with your account name, but that is your call.

When you copy a design and then post "here is my prototype" I really don't know what you expect.

What exactly DO you want by posting this? A pat on the back???

What is nice about duplicating a post that caused problems?

Maybe you could post your exact plans to help others make your jig..?

My wife, seriously. Didn't I already tell you to stop commenting on my post.

I have no dog in this hunt but, it sure does look similar to one I saw built by another member a year or two ago.

You and your wife were rude. The mods deleted your first thread because of that reason. You post again because you expect a different result? Einstein defined that logic....

Someone was recently banned during a thread much like thins one, where someone "stole" someone's idea and it got out of hand. I was trying to avoid that sort of thing. I guess you didn't understand my reasons for reporting it.

If you think I am out of line then report me. It seems you enjoy the drama you are creating....

Well how else are you going to build one?

All the pool cues I see made are all 58 inches long with the same diameter tip and the butts are the same diameter too....

:boring2:

The last time this was discussed, there was a lot of rudeness and I just deleted the thread instead of handing out vacations.

I will hand out vacations if everyone can't play nice this time.

It's Christmas people. How about giving the rest of us the gift of not stirring up crap this time.

If you are wondering if this message is aimed at you, it probably is.

I personally think by all means if an item isn't patented and you can make it yourself DO IT!!!! It will save a boat load of money......

I work in a retail store and we get counterfeit items trying to be returned all the time so there are plenty of people making reproductions.......

Leave him alone in my opinion..... If he wants to sell it you don't need to buy it.....

Btw it looks nice I would like to see it in action.....

Goodluck!!

As to the same question you asked earlier, the answer is its for our own use. Thank you

That seems to be somewhat ok. Its when someone copies and then tries to sell it that the problems usually start.

I don't have a problem with what ever you do in your life Dave, but it sounded like in your original thread re the making of a wrap jig that you had intended on selling these.

I guess if its ok with Darrin, cause that is where I first saw pics of that jig. To me it doesn't resemble the Unique jig at all. Other than wrap jigs tend to be rectangular and pool cues fit in them.

Apparently Unique copied DeAngelo's and made a few changes. True or not?

On occasion, I have copied something someone else has made. I needed it, it saved me money, and I thought it was a good idea.

I never tried to sell it and pass it off as mine.

Exotic tools?

You know, these wrap fixtures are pretty simple devices. They do a very simple job. It's not particularly amazing that they all resemble each other.
Each one trys to "improve" on it's immediate predecessor in some small way.
As I believe someone once said previously, it's really, really not rocket science. In the grand scheme of things, these pool cues we build are pretty simple machines. Highly nuanced, but simple.

Myself, I use the Unique Products wrap fixture. I have other equipment by this same company. I love it...it's a nice step up in speed from the steel straight edge, clamps and scalpel I used to use. The results are similar.
And I could buy with confidence. No worries: their products work.

If I had not had the money for the Unique fixture I would have made a similar one myself or gone without one, which is not really such a great hardship.

If I made one it would no doubt go through a development period where I thrashed about refining the design 'til it worked to my satisfaction. But since the job it does is so elementary, I have no doubt that mine would look and work similarly to all the other ones, which all look and work a great deal like each other.
