My wrap Jig

KJ, that is what I do when making prototype tuned pipes, to make the tapered tube patterns. But as the cones are alot steeper angle, I don't need a 6 meter compass .

I knew it was going to be a good distance. That's why I said a VERY LARGE compass.
Rough figures, I get about 6ft even from the top of the wrap to the center of our imaginary circle.
7Ft from the center of the circle to the bottom of the wrap. That's closer to 3.5M.
Anyway, I don't expect people to actually layout their wraps using that method (string & pencil/compass).
Our contemporary template is close enough and like I said, you could make a template from those calculations.
That's part of the beauty of the math, you don't have to actually lay it out, you figure it out.
One of the reasons that I even make a post like I did is that it might cause someone to think.
Once they've started thinking, they may start understanding. Usually, a whole new set of questions follows.
My favorite pastime is thinking.

I've also had an idea on how to make an adjustable jig to do the same thing. Theoretically, it should work. You just need the length and 2 diameters. The jig would be tricky though, and you'd need some good math too.

I have been working on a design for an adjustable jig myself. It seems viable.

Ok here is the deal I am in the process of building a 5 in 1 fixture. Without removing the cue from the fixture.
Here is it what it will do.
1) Linen wraps
2) Leather wraps
3) Straight line cut for the seam in the leather
4) Sanding
5) Finishing

Thanks
Dave

This fixture sounds like a basic lathe to me.

I was ment to write 6 feet,
But cnc and cad allows you to make any template you want/need for the job.

I like the idea of making an adjustable template and can think of a couple of ways of doing it.But making it simple is the harder part.

Sorry Chris this fixture will be nothing like a lathe.

I thought it sounded like a basic lathe with a seaming guide when you mentioned it could do sanding and linen wraps and such. It sounded like a powered spinner which is a lathe. Good luck with it.

Sounded like a lathe to me too.

We are getting ready to put the plates on here in a few. Don't mind the bad hair day lmao.

You've got two out of five from your list. Can you show how it does the other three?

Dave, I was speaking to my friend BatMan yesterday (I have a lot of friends and hear voices to). He had one question "Does it come in BLACK?"
