Personally, I think The Nuthouse is an awesome name. If you don't use it, I may have to use it myself someday when I open a room (waaaayyyyy down the road).

How about ''STICKS'' you could put a sign with two cue sticks crossed with an 8 or 9 ball between them. Or you could call it ''CROSS STICKS BILLIARDS""
Your right Shawn with all these names popping up for free who needs a marketing firm to do it for them. Best of luck sir.

Depends on the type of place it will be. It it has a grill, 9 ft table, simonis, Muskogee billiards.

If it is going to be bar boxes and beer, Pool Hall.

The name should appeal to the intended clientele.

I'm sorry I don't have anything to add to this thread. But it's so funny considering I read the 1st post then this page.

I promise I will post if I think of something witty. Not likely as I'm not drunk yet.

name pool room

Muskogee Billiard Palace

The use of Palace brings up images of a classy place. And it sounds like you are trying to make a statement with this place.

I have owned and been in a few "Billiard Palace" locations and they were usualy top of the line facilities.

I can even proide you with a nice logo.

Answer the phone 'the Palace'

past owner of Anchorage Billiard Palace - Anchorage, Alaska
Gaslamp Billiard Palace - San Diego

...If we use the name you come up with, I will buy you a $50.00 gift certificate to Muellers, Seyberts, Pooldawg....or buy you a TAR, On The Rail shirt.....or anything pool related up to $50.00. And once its finalized, I will take pictures of the sign so everyone can see...

I'd rather have $50 of table time...

"Okie from Muskogee"

Folks can tell their buddies they're going down to see the Okie From Muskogee. That should help draw some interest.

Thats what I am saying....I think it will work.....I also feel that even if I have a really big tourney, I do honestly feel that it can happen with no smoking or drinking........

On that note, considering building a building out front that has heat and a/c for smokers, so that can go smoke and stay out of the elements.

Might be ordering 10, 32" flat panel TV's and have sports on as well. Lots to work out in doing this.....

Shawn -- First of all, there's nothing wrong with sending them out into the elements to smoke. Remember - they don't really care about their health all that much, or they wouldn't be smoking.

THAT SAID, Sandites has a good idea with the smoking room in the corner. It stinks to high heaven in the smoking room, but with the window, the smokers can see (through the smoke) into the pool hall and have a clue when it's their turn to play, again. Whoever came up with that idea had a good one.

No Alcohol No Smoking.

It should be called, 'I Hate Money Billiards'. With the slogan, "I pay so you can play."

I'm just kidding, of course.

It would be nice to think all pool halls could stay 'in the black' while being alcohol and smoke free. Obviously most can't.

Best of luck to you.

Cycopath, I'm sure it will be tough, sometimes, but I bet he can do it.

We need more family pool halls in Oklahoma, because our kids are really smart and talented and need places to practice, so they can beat all the grownups and get all those scholarships and stuff!! ;-)

We've got a great family pool hall in Tulsa and having one in the Muskogee area will be the perfect distance, so they shouldn't have any problems with having to compete with each other. I know many of our players come from 30-45 minutes and further to play pool there. I'm sure Shawn will get similar attendance. You can't beat that!

Take these however you will. Some of the ideas mentioned made me think of these... (Some of you guys had some EXCELLENT ideas and some made me crack up, real hard!!)

Use Billiards or Pool Hall for the end of any of these:

The Real West
Cowboy's & Injun's
Teepee Billiards
8 is Enough Family Pool Hall (The 8 should be an 8 ball.)
Blue Hand Billiards
Bible Belt Billiards
Holy Rollers Pool Hall (That should raise an eyebrow or two)
Stix-N-Tones (I'm sure you'll have great juke box selections, right?)
Fun-Q Billiards (Yes, I said that.)
Grass Roots Billiards

That's probably the max I'll send in, coz I have a grandchild staying with us for a couple of days.

Just pm me to let me know when to come down and collect my table time. ;-)

Well, Mr. Smith -- supposedly the oldest pool hall in continuous operation in the United States is "Smith's Billiards" in Springfield, MA.

I don't think it would do any harm to have another one with that same name in Oklahoma. Might be good karma for you.

Cycopath, I'm sure it will be tough, sometimes, but I bet he can do it.

I sincerely do hope they have a well run, successful business.

I love the idea of smoke free and alcohol free pool halls. I've been 12 years without a cigarette and 3 years without a drink. I just realize how tough it would be to keep the profit margins up.
