The first step to being able to fix your bad habits is the ability to identify them. I thought it would be interesting to hear everyones' most common bad habits that always seem to creep back when you're not paying attention.

I'll start.

1. Twisting my wrist on the execution stroke. When I'm in stroke I don't really get this, when I'm playing poorly I can't seem to get rid of it.

2. Getting lazy in my stance. When I am down on the table sometimes my head is turned a little to the side, instead of having my chin over my cue. This has been a bad habit of mine for a long time. I see the line of aim wrong with my head cocked sideways.

3. Tightening up. Sometimes when I start to feel pressure in a match, I start to grip my cue tightly, and take shorter and jabbier pratice strokes. This has a huge negative effect on my game. The times that I am under pressure, but I am able to stay loose and smooth, that's usually when I hit my highest gear (not very often).

1. Not concentrating on easy shots

2. Not looking deeper into the table for better shots (one pocket)

3. Continuing to think that I can beat this guy named Bob even when I really need 9-7! LOL

1. Not putting 100% into each shot.
2. Spending too much time banging and not training.
3. Letting my table get too dirty.

1. I continue to get a tight grip on the cue.

2. I square up my stance and when I am down on the shot I get confused at my elbows relationship to my body, causing me to miss.

3. Not getting back up before the shot when thing just don't seem right.

Number one is big for me and just seems to keep creeping back into my game.

my pre shot routine breaks down pretty quickly when i'm stressed and get desperate. i end up shooting the ball too quickly and unfocused.

Tighting my grip right before striking the CB.

Zen Pool cured me of the wrist twisting thing:)

Letting my concentration down, I guess this could be considered choking?
Every shot deserves 100% of my attention.

Shooting at the same pace as my opponet, mostly a problem with faster players.

1)Letting up.

2)Allowing little things to annoy me to the point that I am close to going on tilt.

3)"going for it" when a good safe would have been a better option.

1. Not respecting "routine" shots enough.
2. Not enough practice strokes on "routine" shots.
3. Not "bearing down" when playing someone who has no chance of
winning.

1. Losing my concentration by staring longingly at the 20 yr. old hotties that come in the pool hall.
2. Losing my concentration by staring longingly at the 20 yr. old hotties that come in the pool hall.
3. Losing my concentration by staring longingly at the 20 yr. old hotties that come in the pool hall.

1. Bad rolls
2. Unlucky rolls
3. Bad and Unlucky rolls

LOL.....................ok that isn't mine, but I couldn't resist!

Mine are

1. Twisting the wrist when juicing up the cue ball. I grip the cue to tight and don't finish the stroke instead I twist the wrist. (Almost completely gone now, but have to keep working at it.)

2. Standing with my feet too close together on an easy shot. Taking the easy shot for granted and not going through the proper technique.

3. Not taking into account my next 3 or 4 shots. Instead I only take into account the shot I am taking and the next shot. I need to plan further ahead so I can start getting some more run outs!

I only have one really really bad habit and I've had it since I was sixteen:

Walking through the door of a pool room.

My mother, ex-wife and a lot of ex-girlfriends will be happy to tell you what a bad habit it is. LOL
