I've heard from Old timer's that when you stand up straight and tall, the cue should just touch your chin?

I'm sure Kareem Abdul Jabaar, or any one tall like him would feel more comfortable with a long cue vs someone like Boston Shorty, or vice-versa.

A standard 58 inch cue is just that. Standard. Just my opinion. A 58 inch is perfect for me. But I have 6-5 plus friends that don't like it.

I'm 6'4" and played with a 58" cue for years, then I got a Predator shaft made for my cue @30 3/8" to make my cue 59 3/8" and would never go back to 58".
It improved my game,my stance, and comfort @ the table.

Herein lies a Benefit of custom cue makers, to make the cue fit the person who will play with it. I shoot with 60 inch cues and have done so for the last 20 years.

Now if we can just get the casemakers to make some non-standard length cases ;),

I too started shooting with a 60" cue about a year and a half ago and the benefits were immediate!!!

I am to cheap for that. So I started making my own. I always thought I needed a 61", but have decided a 60" works better. Must be a popular size. I sell them about as fast as I get them built. In hind sight it would have been cheaper to just have one built.

A Rule of Thumb

The cue minimum length should be same height as your shoulder when you are standing. Any additional length will help (not too long) when you are stretching on the table for a shot.

So cue length should not fall below the shoulder when standing.
