Need Firewire Switcher

When we use Ustream or any other free stream service it would be handy to have a switcher that could accept two firewire inputs from the two cameras and then have a single firewire output to the computer which is doing the streaming. This would be a switching device to give more than a single camera view. It could be a 'hard' switch, no need for fancy stuff like wipe capability or other graphics.

I have yet to locate such a device. Does anyone have a source for this? I have searched large sources such as BH Photo/Video with no success. I can find it with RCA input/output, but not firewire.

We were able to get Wirecast to work but it was unstable over the long haul: http://www.telestream.net/wire-cast/overview.htm

We lucked out and found a pretty trick hardware 1394 switcher that has since been discontinued. It was over $1300 . It works great but I would be interested in seeing what other options are out there. I spent a lot of time about 18 months ago looking into this very topic I am sure things have changed.

If money was not a big concern then this is the way of the future: http://www.newtek.com/tricaster/tricaster_studio.php

Seeing as this thread is a touch out-dated, one can only assume that there have been technological advances regarding our topic....

If such innovations have come to rise, which of those would be recommended for a beginner?

I am new to this field, but feel I at least have general comprehension of the basics. My goal is to provide a crisp stream, with very little graphics if any at first, audio quality is not an initial priority, but have the capability of switching between two different cameras (either for single views of multiple tables or for multiple views of a single table).

Thanks in advance.

Danny,

Give me a call and I will try and help you get set up.
