5 years ago I lost my 21 year old son to cancer after a 13 months fight. Three weeks after he passed my 43 year old wife had a stroke. She survived and is doing as well as can be expected now.

For most of the last 5 years my wife and I have had no money for a head stone for him. (For the first two years my wife and I basically sat on our couch and stared at, well nothing I guess.

Six months ago I started a company and now business is doing very well...some would say booming. In fact I just hired my eleventh employee last week.

Now for the problem. My wife and I can finally afford a stone for our son's grave and we're a little stuck on what to have written on it.

Here's what we have so far...

Devoted Father
Loving Husband
Beloved Son
______ Brother

We are having trouble filling in the bank.

If you would describe your brother (or sister) with only one word what would it be?

Thank you AZB ...

How horribly sad to read your story. I am glad you you able to move on with your life, it must have been difficult.

As to the blank word, I can only think of what I would like to see on my baby sister's headstone if she passed before I did. "Cherished".

If it's not too difficult, I would ask his brother. I'd give him a list of ideas but be open to one suggested by him. He knew their relationship better than anyone.

That's the word I thought of too. Sort of all encompassing.

Sorry to hear your news Buddy. But glad life turned around for you.

I used to work in a couple of Funeral Homes so I have seen a few Markers.

I have seen a stone say all three, if that is what you want to express.

Beloved Son, Father and Husband, or Brother.

"a brother", no need for more if you have a brother. a brothers love is a brothers love, don't need an adjective.

+3 for cherished

very sorry for the loss of your son and your wife's health challenge.

Wishing you a brighter New Year.

Peace.

best,
brian kc

Some good choices so far, I like "cherished" as well.

I think personally though, I might go with something a little less generic and more meaningful to myself and my family. If I think about my family, I'd pick something like "playful" or "inspiring", something that would remind me of their personality everytime I read it.

Loyal

I would suggest Loyal.

I got a couple loyal dogs, no offence but loyal doesn't fit too me.

To the OP

(How about ( Son we sure love you, miss you so very much.. )

I wouldn't put anything on the maker that was final, your memory of your son ( lives ) in you .
